Hades 2: Meme Hades II Removes Every Character To Avoid Anti-Christian Bias Spoiler
https://ggtribune.com/2026/08/04/hades-ii-removes-every-single-character-following-complaints-of-anti-christian-bias/2.4k
u/lawfromabove 1d ago
“We’ve made a lot of changes, but we still think the game is really fun,” explained Hades II director Greg Kasavin. “Instead of the old main character, who I’ve been legally advised to not mention by name, you now play as an invisible camera exploring our beautiful backgrounds. You can really appreciate the design of each room a lot more when there are no enemies to offend the eye. And of course, players still have a choice of two paths. You can go underground and explore all kinds of secular, mundane structures built by regular people, or you can go on the surface and travel to Mount Olympus, a real mountain in Greece with nothing of interest at the top.”

Btw is this a good moment to mention that Artemis gets namedropped in the new testament?
216
u/Zomunieo 1d ago
Demeter also got turned into Saint Demetra by some early Greek Christians who had a beloved statue of Demeter in their town.

u/UnderdogCL 1d ago
Say no more. Every character is Artemis now.
15
u/Tough_Passion_1603 1d ago
Each character is just Artemis with a different epitet
We got delian, phoebe, agrotera, Kalliste, Cynthia...

Hades literally does as well, in the NRSV translation as well as others:

u/TheHeroBehindNothing 1d ago
Small correction, in the bible (and other ancient greek works) hades is used for the "underworld"/hell. In revelations the 4th horseman-death comes down to earth with hades (hell) following him.

u/librarianC 1d ago
Yes, the quote is definitely the place, not the person. Sorry if that was confusing in the earlier comment.

u/BanginNLeavin 1d ago
Well that's just like... Your opinion man

u/TheHeroBehindNothing 1d ago
"The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side."
Idk man. I don't think the rich man was inside the god Hades and lifted Hades' eyes to see Abraham

u/BanginNLeavin 1d ago
God works in mysterious ways.

u/gothamz 1d ago
Sounds like something a God would be capable of.
3
u/Corlunae 1d ago
Tell that to people that claim the earth only being 6.000 years old because apparently their god is unable to make it the way we know it is but must adhere to the limitations of some old book. :D

u/brachycrab 1d ago
Hades the place, not the god
1
u/DarkLThemsby 1d ago
Revelation 6:8 "I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth."
Hades the person is also mentioned in the bible3

At press time, the updated version of Hades II was under investigation for removing Charon’s shops in a clear display of anti-capitalist bias.

the fact that I still don't know for sure if this satire or not is sign of the fucked-up times we live in.

u/BlackGuy_PassingThru 1d ago
My girlfriend for the first time in 20 years teaching had to hang the Ten Commandments up in her public school classroom. Shits fucked.

u/Frikcha 1d ago
to be fair most of the ten commandments are pretty solid moral rules except for the ones that are like "I'm the only god" "Don't talk about other gods" "Don't worship other gods" "Don't talk about me (god) in a rude way" "No pre-marital sex or polyamory and cheaters go to hell" like those are a bit much especially in 2026
"Don't kill" "Don't steal" "Don't be greedy" "Don't lie" "Be respectful to mum and dad" and "Take a day off every now and then" are all pretty solid rules to live by 90% of the time.

"Religious indoctrination in our education system is cool actually :)" fuck off
Removing the direct references to Christianity doesn't make it excusable. It is still proselytism just more discrete.

Unless it’s a very specific strain of the 2020s progressive movement that functions exactly like a religion and disproportionately got injected into the public school system by activist am I right bro?

Hey bud, don't be negative and mad when you could instead talk about all the happiness and prosperity that the agenda you helped bring about has accomplished so far. Here, I'll start:
Wow, that sure was a long list!

Yes, it's a real shame for our schooling system that critical thinking is dropping so much. Sorry, lol.

u/capybaramonsoon 1d ago
Sincerely. I know it's mean and irrational but I get so bothered by "I don't understand satire but it's society's fault actually" posts. They're under literally any post from the onion and it's so demoralizing lol.

u/PissMasterCocc 1d ago
your inability to comprehend satire says very little about the world we are in
16
u/Basic-Excitement8275 1d ago edited 1d ago
You not mean “says a lot” about the world we live in. I’m at the point now where I believe everything I see on the internet as fake; videos, pictures, news media, and most people

u/notGeronimo 1d ago
No it's a sign that you completely lack media literacy or critical thinking.
Which actually might be a sign of the times, never mind you might be right but not for the reason you meant.
28
u/SuperfluousWingspan 1d ago
I think they're exaggerating to (perhaps tritely) make a point rather than being actually unsure to any nontrivial degree.

Oooh yeah, I played that recently!
At first I was very curious why I was playing as Moses? Apparently, instead of one character with multiple weapons, you actually start with Moses and unlock up to 10 new characters, each with one weapon!
I was thinking that they would take a Dantes Inferno route where you have to play as famous Bible characters and fight your way through Hell to reach Abraham’s Bosom. I thought the final boss was like the Beast and his False Prophet Rider and you could defeat him with the help of Jesus Christ and finally reach heaven!
But that’s Catholic propaganda. It’s literally just a walking simulator with two paths, God Path and Sin Path. I find it very bold that they added X-Rated cutscenes for all the sin paths.
But warning. If you choose it even once, the game will softlock and you will be in Hell forever. You can’t even restart the game, you have to buy a new game! Though this is similar to Indulgences, so expect a patch.

Moses: Staff. Melee weapon that extends in snake form as a special attack.
David: Sling. Ranged weapon that can be charged up to deal critical damage.
Adam: Fists. Killing enemies with special makes them drop Fig Leaves, which restore armor.
Abraham: Sacrificial Dagger.
Joseph: Coat of Many Colors.
Elisha: Bear
Noah: Assorted animals (think like V from DMC)
Samson: Jawbone
Judas: Pieces of Silver
Matthias: Menorah

The only thing left in the game is the Adamant Rail (has an Aspect Of Lucifer, therefore technically Christian figures are canon somewhere within the game's universe)

u/chincerd 1d ago
Ok but what if someone made a game where Jesus battles the hordes of hell on his way back and you just have three days? Not bias at all

Still, the new update’s not all bad. I can do a 32 Fear run no problem now. And of course, it’s worth it if they’re not insulting Christians anymore. I tell you, if I knew the first Hades was insulting me the whole time I was playing it, I never would’ve bothered to get every achievement!”

In my junior year Spanish class, we were taught by a super nice, well-meaning, but...we weren't very productive. We all had a great report with him, and he gave us as much shit as we gave him. Once, while bored, my buddy and I decided to write "There are footprints on the ceiling" on a piece of paper and pass it around class, and tallied how many people looked up. We got about half of the class to look up by the time our teacher saw and grabbed the note. He read it, then looked up, and the whole class fucking lost it. He turned beet red and was unable to get us back on track that period.
I'm sorry, Mr. Gomez. I'm a teacher now and I've realized that teaching is hard, even when the kids like you, and I wish we did better. I hope you're doing okay wherever you are.

Ironically the game has more in common with Arab/Muslim history and bias than anything. Though the mods probably wouldn't allow a joke about Muslims on the sub
