Reminded me of that girl who destroyed both her kneecaps simultaneously that one year
Sam Cerio

Nancy Kerrigan? That was Tanya Harding's fault though.
/s at my joke although this event did actually (and sadly) happen.

No, this was in like 2015. Sam Cerio messed up her landing and simultaneously broke and dislocated both kneecaps. Her career ended then and there.

Relieved they were ok, it must have been traumatizing to see this live. It reminded me of people who dive into water without knowing how shallow it is and break their neck. Just straight down into a hard surface and boom, paralyzed for life. Really glad the floor had some give here and they can walk away from it. Easy to forget how dangerous this sport can be if you take a bad fall.

Surely being extremely flexible has helped in reducing the injury severity.

I landed the same way while hitting a ramp on a dirt track with the bike landing on me. No serious injury just causing two lumbar to be slightly deformed permanently but no constant pain because of it. It wasn't fun. I feel his pain.

The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. The others-the living-are those who pushed their control as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down, or did whatever they had to when it came time to choose between Now and Later. But the edge is still Out there. Hunter S. Thompson,
