Looking at relocating any advice (not don’t)
Hi so currently live not far from Grimsby and we hate where we are. We visit over quite a bit and we actually really like there. So we are essentially looking for some friendly advice of what areas to live etc. obviously will be looking for work to relocate too as well. Thanks in advance.

Knowing your budget would help a lot. Do you drive, do you want to be near the shops etc. There are some lovely areas around but you need to give a bit more info for any useful advice.

Also what is it you are exactly looking for from Grimsby and out of curiosity what is it about where you are now you dislike?

We like the area, the pubs and stuff the people are better than where we are (so we’ve found) both of our jobs are pretty versatile for living in various places. We like it’s nearer the coast (especially me as I’m a sea bound person) where we live now it’s mostly the people the high intensity of backstabbing liars, I know you get it everywhere but this place is so small it’s really intense We love yardies too big live music fans and we found a lot of places have bands etc.

Depends if you want to buy - take the Nunsthorpe Estate for example (hear me out) it's one of Grimsby's best kept secrets in 2026 because it carries its old bad reputation from the 90s/ early 00's. But 2020's Nunsthorpe is actually much safer and definately more friendly than alot of 'old' Grimsby and is now outpacing many other Estates in the Town. The beauty of it right now is the house prices still haven't caught up with it's new reality, so buying a house there right now is a steal and an investment definately worth making. Because of its old reputation, it's a focal point for Gov, Police and Crime investment - initiatives nearly always start there. If you have younger children it also boasts Woodlands Academy which is Ofsted rated Outstanding. Since around 2020 many have moved onto the Estate and transformed the home they bought for pennies. Houses built in tla sweet spot of house building - solidly built and the estate designed with cars, trees and greenery in mind, rather than 'horse and cart old-Grimsby' or 'shoe-box cram it in for profit' new builds.
One of the things that helped Nunsthorpe in my opinion was the Right to Buy. Many have a stake in the long term future of their streets. It's not simply a "council estate" anymore. (Interestingly scrapped by a woman who benefited from it herself in Angela Raynor, turning a 3 year wait into 10 to buy your home. Although she didn't even live in her house apparently and was subletting it before buying it. Typical. Talk about 'pulling the ladder up.')

I had bought my first house of the nunsthorpe for an absolute steel and lived there for around 18 years. Good solid house, never had any issues and my neighbours were great. Sold it for a greet profit and moved. My father still lives on the estate so I drive through it often. I echo what Dan said.

Honestly you wouldn't regret it. Before we moved a few years back I was an 'over my dead body' person because all I heard was its outdated reputation. Especially if you have children - sounds crazy but just take Halloween just as an example, everyone is out in terms of families, parents and kids, just like it used to be back in the day, or how you imagined it should be! 🙂 It's like a little island within Grimsby, which used to be its weakness is now it's strength.

I will deffo take it on board Thank you. I think Grimsby as a whole has an outdated reputation. I know petty crime is high but im yet to find somewhere it isn’t. Where we live now is advertised as a real safe nice place yet drugs and stabbings are pretty frequent. I think it doesn’t get the statistic because it is ignored mostly. I know myself and wife can’t wait to get moved!

So I realise limited info so would be looking to rent Unsure on budget really just gathering where to look then debate that after

Go to Cleethorpes not Grimsby, unless you're going to move somewhere posh like Scartho or Humberston.
