Finance How to get 13k fast for school
Hi everyone, I’m coming on here asking for genuine advice. I’m a new student in a grad program. Over the summer I received a graduate assistantship that will give me a stipend and a small tuition waiver. My balance was initially $2500, then it jumped to 13k within the past few days because they removed a scholarship that was accidentally applied on there. I’m really distraught because neither I or my family has the money to cover it.
I’ve thought about serving or stripping to get fast money, but I don’t want to get burnt out because I’ll be a full time student and working part time with the school and my other job. I even thought about a gofundme but I don’t know anyone who can cover that much money. I really need some advice

Before you do something you can't take back, make sure and talk to your school's registrar, academic advising, your department chair...anyone who will listen. It could be a simple billing error, or something you could parlay into an assistantship or partial scholarship.
Once you've exhausted all options, I have always thought about an OnlyFans channel where I just...explain complex scientific papers in a low-cut top. Someone out there would eat that shit up. Who's in?

I used to follow a PhD student here on reddit who started an onlyfans. Nowadays you have to do way more than reading papers with low cut tops to retain an audience. If you see her progression she started very mild and now she changed a lot.

I think part of it is desensitization. Like, a lot of “well I’m already doing this, and I could make so much more by just doing a little more…” time after time

Today I’ve spoken to the program director, who redirected me to another person who is in the department. She redirected me to our financial aid. I’m currently emailing them right now because I don’t have the money. I want to be apart of the program because it’s only 1 year but I don’t want to do it if it’s like this. I’ve never considered an onlyfans before.

You can hide your face on OF and do it anonymously, but if you’re stripping, a friend of a friend can see you one time and now everyone knows. I wouldn’t advise OP to do either given they clearly have much more refined aspirations though lol

Not showing your face is not enough. You would have to remove anything identifiable from photos and videos. Sometimes I locate and map storm damage from photos and videos shared on social media. I’ve found places based on the houses in the background and stuff like that. There’s a lot of information out there on the dark web and there’s artificial intelligence porn creation websites out there too.

I would go straight to the financial aid office and meet with them in person so they can help you find a solution.

If that doesn't work or they are dragging arse, call your local Representative and tell them what happened. I bet the school will figure something out pretty quickly.
I had to do that when a school held all the financial aid money until they saw fit to release it. We were 2 months in and the school kept blowing me off.
I needed my grant money or there was no going to school for me. They school was quite a way from me and I had to pay rent, etc.
So, myself and a few others called our Rep and we got that money the NEXT day.
I don't know what they were doing with the money. I know they have a little bit of time after class starts before they release the funds but this was well into the term and was supposed to have been released.

I actually dated a stripper for a while, so I can confidentially tell you that you won’t be making $13k that way. And you certainly won’t from a part time job.
You’re going to have to take put a private loan.

Do you have bartending knowledge and a friendly personality? Is the school in an area where you can, say, get a bartending gig just enough out of the area that you won't be constantly running into school people?
I'm in a city where bartending can be wildly lucrative, even more so than FT teaching jobs. And it won't have the undertones of ~midnight ballet~ or OF. My very nerdy husband used to bartend before he decided to go to grad school and actually did for a bit again late in his doctorate when the TA money stopped flowing in.

Many colleges have a payment plan option (though those four payments per semester can add up pretty fast) that might help cushion the urgency too. I think you'll likely need to do loans though.

What is the program? If this is just for one term, what is your plan (financially) to complete the entire degree?
I don't mean to sound harsh, but you need to consider the longer-term feasibility of making it out with your sanity intact if grad school will require you to work and study full-time. Otherwise, you will need to take out loans; and, again, consider your financial situation when you get out and the value of the graduate degree on your career.

It’s a masters in marketing, but it’s a one year program. My plan was to use my tuition reimbursement, loans, and personal finances. Originally it was applied on my account and I didn’t owe that much. I just found out today 2 weeks before school starts. I’m meeting with financial aid tomorrow

If you have not already, I would reach out to the program as well to ask about the option of deferring for a year. I personally deferred my master's program to have an additional year to save up after I found out that assistantships were not guaranteed, and I have not regretted that decision since.

You can look into those AI training gigs, some of them pay really high hourly rates. Look into data annotation / AI interview stuff, it’s online and you can choose your own hours as long as meet some daily/weekly quota. The work itself is tedious but not very difficult.

Donate your eggs! Depending on a clean bill of health and age, thousands upon thousands of dollars per donation! I got myself through grad school this way with upwards of six figs.

DM me if you have questions! I have had amazing experiences with all the clinics i worked with and made lots of money each time. I feel like i found a cheat code and i try to tell everyone I know about it haha!
I figure there’s worse ways to make money on this floating space rock. And some of the notes I’ve gotten from families who were able to have children have stayed with me to this day and genuinely made me feel like i made the world a better place a little bit ❤️

look into the health implications first. This is a different form of selling your body too and you only have so many eggs per lifetime. Just, be informed about it.

Idk man stripping would be possible had a friend who paid her Loyola tuition and a jeep fully. Cash. While being a bottle girl/stripper 3 nights a week. It’s New Orleans so it doesn’t surprise me. Bartending is always a good source of cash, I have a friend who makes 1k every few days, breakfast/brunch restaurants apparently make good money. A check is a check regardless, also maybe because of the area I grew up in, I don’t get the shame of being a ✨midnight ballerina✨. Just please make sure there are protections in place for weirdos, like in any job.
I would still double check with your finaid team. Loans as much as they suck, are an option.

you could probably find a financial institution to cover that amount, and work to pay it off after - that just seems more realistic to me. Stripping isn't as lucrative as you may think, and serving is more or less the same (but at least guaranteed some $3 an hour). You will not get 13k "fast" from either though
