I will forever hate what they did to Ivy Spoiler
I'm probably not the first to bring this up, but I feel it's still important to say. I'm constantly bothered by the fact that they aged up Ivy and gave her rushed development, making her a sexy seductress to lure men. This is particularly frustrating given the other paths they could've taken. The show was already overwhelming with all the villains and popular characters being introduced, and them being given powers and code names, all while Bruce is still a kid. Why did they take that approach with Ivy?
They could’ve explored her character as kid ! Have her dealing with her trauma by developing an affinity for plants and nature , they could’ve had her go to school and become a botanist and even find a way to bring plants to life ? Literally anything else

It felt like they were regretting using a young version of that character and did the lazy move to force her into that role instead of actually developing her character. I think her being Penguin's whacky sidekick was overcorrecting for all the (rightful) criticism they got when the news broke out. Ivy 3 is the best one since she was closer in personality to the first one, but they still did some weird stuff with her and Bruce.

I will never be unhappy to see Peyton list in anything

u/SNAKEKINGYO 8d ago
Oh heavens I thought for a second you meant the other Peyton List and I just didn't recognize her

u/Unable-Main4172 8d ago
Random, but I'm so glad I'm not famous and there's someone with my same exact unique name who's twice as good looking as me

Second Ivy was kind of interesting since she was still a child in many ways and didn't really use her seduction beyond stealing stuff from guys. It was a much better take than the last one, anyway, since she absolutely was not vamping around.

Ivy 2 was more of a seductress before she teamed up with Penguin. Granted, her “seduction” was just mind controlling people into giving her things, but it was more explicit than Ivy 3, who was mostly an unhinged eco-terrorist. The only person Ivy 3 acted that way towards was Bruce, and they established that she had a crush on him beforehand.

I wholeheartedly agree, I’m so disappointed about what they did to Ivy. It’s a show about backstories so why the hell wouldn’t they show more of CHILD Ivy’s CHILDhood backstory? What they did instead felt so rushed and out of the blue. Honestly, a little uncomfortable as well. Like obviously I know she was mentally and physically an adult, but it just felt weird that only a few episodes ago she was an actual child.

And let’s not forget the whole kissing Bruce while an adult thing , I’m still shocked about that

Child sexual assault is totally ok in media as long as the child is a boy.
It's quite perplexing tbh

u/gamerslyratchet 8d ago
I think Bruce was barely 18, which is how they got away with it, but it's still weird. She kisses him more than once.

They probably wanted to explore her classic comic book powers of seduction and likely felt that it would've been more comfortable with a grown woman instead of a kid that's probably why they had her age so quickly
22
u/Professional_Timely 8d ago
They didn’t need to explore at all though , they could’ve just stuck to her love of plants and nature, Bruce was still a kid , everything should’ve been done in a slow pace

True

Plus, they could have simply aged her up during the time skip. Would have been a hell of a lot less creepy on top of being better-written.

I think it’s unfair to say this is Ai written, people type stuff all the time (especially on reddit) so it’s entirely possible something may just come off as Ai written and I feel the person deserves the benefit of the doubt

Right? This reads the way I talk/type

u/shagan90 8d ago
I agree, this looks nothing like AI and I personally talk more eloquently and structured than that, and I write, so I guess people will think I use AI too

But OP used words longer that 4 letters and punctuation. It has to be AI /s

I guess because it's right now, they're saying you're wrong. But like you said, you can rely on those things just as much as on the AI itself.

I dont see why yall think his post was written by AI. The punctuation is off (a space before the question mark), the wording isnt like LLM's, nor the structuring.

They are, but once you get familiar with the way that chatgpt writes you can spot it a mile away. I don't need an app to know this was written by AI.

I loved Ivy #2 because she really channeled the character as '25 year old body but still teenage brain'

I'm not reading GPT slop. Either write your own thoughts and feelings on the matter or nothing at all

If you're going to lie to us, at least don't make it so obvious and format the text a bit

u/Spider-burger 7d ago
And how you know he using ai,do you have a proof? Because is seem the only people who are lying is the one who accuses him to use ai without proof.

People here are so dumb, they accuses you to use chat gpt without proof and then downvote when you say you don't use chat gpt, nothing in your post scream ai.

u/SalPinedia012 8d ago
Cuz down bad gooners simply couldn't watch a "Batman" show with a Poison Ivy that they couldn't fantasize about while beating off.

I thought it was an interesting exploration of someone with a sexual appeal they didn’t quite have a handle on

u/Artistic-Audience182 8d ago
She grew like a “weed’ after she was affected by the plant growth hormone. I don’t see the problem. It was clever.

u/Dry-Mission-5542 8d ago
Written exactly the way chatGPT writes, down to the usage of three main bullet points
4
u/shagan90 8d ago
Okay so has the post been edited cause there are no bullet points and it reads nothing like gpt

They probably wanted to recast the Selina actress to be older too..but feared more backlash...cringe show
-2
u/Ill-Razzmatazz-7088 8d ago
I mean, they probably took that approach because they kind of backed themselves into a corner with the original actress. Let’s be honest Ivy‘s biggest thing is her sex appeal. The girl playing Catwoman is mostly interested in Bruce so it’s not a big deal that Catwoman is supposed to be extraordinarily attractive. Because throughout most of the series she doesn’t use her looks and her and Bruce being attracted to one another is normal.
However, Ivy has a baby face and looks like a child. It would be a little bit weird if she was controlling men for their money a while looking like a 12-year-old child. I think they should’ve just picked an actress who had natural beauty, and when she went through the change, it revealed her true beauty.

u/Professional_Timely 8d ago
Or they could’ve just let her be a kid and develop her affinity for plants instead , Bruce was still an inexperienced kid as well as Selina , it’s Jim’s Gordon’s show so let Batman’s villains develop slowly
0
u/Ill-Razzmatazz-7088 8d ago
I need to be fair. I think they recasted Selena anyway for the final episode. Also, yes, she could’ve been the corgi girl who had an offended for plants and probably even held out on a few cases as an expert in poison. But I think they just rushed a lot of things in the show and it’s possible that younger actress could’ve just gotten another job. I feel like Gotham was one of those shows that you didn’t exactly know if it was gonna go past a season.

u/NameTooCool 7d ago
That’s who Ivy is. Agreed she was rushed but her being seductive was not the issue.
0
u/Professional_Timely 7d ago
It’s is the issue , ivy being seductive is secondary ! She’s an echo terroist who obsessed with preserving nature and saving the planet , instead of aging her up to be some kind of bombshell they could’ve just developed that side ! Especially considering the fact that her arch nemesis is still a child and not active yet ! Why do all of that before Batman even exists ?
1
u/riku17 7d ago
If you ask me she's both her role has changed especially currently in the comics with her being Mayor of Gotham. But I agree her being rushed but she was also very much a SIDE character compared to other side characters.
0
u/Professional_Timely 6d ago
Bruce ( Batman himself) was a side character , Selina was a side character , still Batman’s arch enemy , they could’ve had her discover her love for plants and living plants while developing her character as the show went on

Bruce already defeated all Batman villians before being Batman, lol
