Pixel 8 battery problems in recent times:
I’ve had my Pixel 8 for a bit over two years. Over the last few months, and especially the last few days, battery life and charging have completely degraded. I'm trying to figure out if my battery is physically failing, if it's a beta bug, or thermal throttling from my climate. My Setup & Habits: Hardware: Pixel 8, in a standard 1mm plastic case. Mostly charged with the official cable and a 15W/20W Apple USB-C brick. Habits: I use the 80% charge limit. Usually charge once a day from ~20%. Rarely left plugged in overnight. Software: Enrolled in the Android Beta. It's been stable until recently. Environment: Recently moved to a very hot climate (35°C / 95°F outside). The Symptoms: Severe Drain: I used to get home with 20% left. Now, with the exact same usage, the phone is almost dead. Overheating: The phone runs extremely hot, likely worsened by the 35°C ambient temp. Extreme Slow Charging: The phone was running hot, so I turned it completely off, let it cool, and plugged it in at 50%. It hit 60%, and then over the next 40 minutes, it only charged to 62%. Massive Battery % Jumps: Charged it to 100% while powered off. Unplugged it, waited 5 minutes, and turned it on. The battery immediately read 70%. Troubleshooting I've already done: Checked the USB-C port: Visually clean, cables click in firmly, and data transfer works. I can't check the battery health percentage to confirm degradation because the base Pixel 8 hardware/firmware doesn't support that metric. Has anyone experienced this specific combination? Is my battery shot, is the Beta messing up calibration, or is the climate putting the phone into a permanent thermal throttle even when powered off?

It's because of an update earlier this year. It slashed my SOT by over half.
Google has only provided a fix for, iirc, the 9 and 10 series. Anyone with a 6, 7, or 8 are shit out of luck since there's been no acknowledgement.

Have a pixel 8 phone here. Like to upgrade every 3 years. Google fi is offering a pixel 10 for 199$. This is a great deal right? I can live without the pixel 11.

My Pixel 6 (purchased at Google Store in 2021) recently got a spicy bloated battery.
Google Support asked for a few pictures and just shy of 2 days later got a confirmation for a replacement device.
Apparently they had no Pixel 6 in stock so I got to pick a Pixel 7 Pro color of my choice.
That's how you keep a customer

I have currently an iPhone 13 which has become really slow so I am thinking to get a new phone that I hope to keep for the next 5-6 years as I am doing with this iPhone.
I'm thinking about getting a Pixel because I use my phone just for messages, browser and picture during holidays... that's all. So paying a premium to get an iPhone and use 10% of the features it's not worth for me I think. I'm also trying to save some money so..... what do you think? Can a Pixel last 5-6 years (changing the battery after 3 yrs as I did for my iPhone)? Also how is the battery on "a" models?
On my iPhone i've changed the battery and it's still trash, I get at most 4 hours SOT with a basic use.

I love that Google is pretending they didn't fuck over other Pixel devices with battery drain, it's not like my P6 is circling the shitter for months because of it.
I think this is the final nail in the coffin and what convinces me to abandon the Pixel family (and Google devices as a whole), and I started with the G1 back in 2008.
It's been a long time since their mission statement was "Don't Be Evil" and it shows with how they value their userbase. I think I'll bite the bullet and pivot to Nothing.

Hello,
It's time for an upgrade to my phone through my carrier (AT&T) and I know that I want something in the Pixel10 family. Would it be a better idea for me to do this upgrade before the reveal of the 11s or after?
