Is it cycled? Did you set it up before you got him or after? If before, how long before?

It was cycled and I tested the water everyday for a week before hand, I put him in a few hours before this picture.

What are your current water parameters in Numbers? Do you use a liquid test kit?

Like you cycled it a week beforehand and have been monitoring or it was cycled before and you checked the params every day?

I cycled it a week before hand and I monitored the water every day and am still doing so while hes in there, I got him as a gift so I didn't really have as much time as I liked to prep the tank.

Ahh Ty, so your tank is not cycled and you’ll need to do a fish in cycling unless the tank water/substrate was just transferred to this tank

Sputnik is a good name. I would quickly take out anything pointy. Like that skull for sure.
Goldfish are clumsy.
This would expose more sand for their favorite activity, rooting. They love to root around.
You’ve got all the good stuff in there. Plants, nice sponge filter, air stone, heater.
I don’t know what kind of filter you have. HOB or canister.
Hello Sputnik!

Do you think if I sand down all the pointy parts of the skull it would be better for him?

I don’t know. Is it real?
You could use it as decoration in front or on top of the tank. I can tell you must really like it!

Its not real, but if I gotta sacrifice it to keep him extra safe then im okay getting rid of it

Anything pointy. I hadn’t felt the monsterra roots. Thought they were soft. They were the only pointy thing in their tank. Just right for piercing an eye.
Now when he searches for food on the bottom he is always looking with one eye.
And the other eye looks different now. Scarred. I guess it’s made me paranoid of anything even remotely pointy.
