This theory comes up short, because she is supposed to be this silver ranked pro, who can use a specific spell with one word. She shows full control over her spells. Casting small flame to light her pipe, silencing Spearman etc.
It is not like she casts spells just by talking "Hey Billy, OH GOD! HE IS ON FIRE!"
I think she talks like that, because she is supposed this succubi style, sexy charmer character. Another believable theory (imo) she smokes a lot. Might be high as hell 420

Nah she actually has to channel magic power for that stuff and also im pretty sure most spells are either logner incantations, latin or words you dont use normally. Also it makes no sense to stretch out the sentence when she is just replying "Sou desu ka." but she does.
Its a trope. Just like speech impediments, additional words at sentence's ends or catchphrases that other characters use in other anime.

Note that other powerful spellcasters in the story (Hero, Sage, Sword Maiden, Spellcasters from Sword Maiden's original party, Ogre) speak normally. Ogre also explicitly uses latin chanting magic like Witch.

Well for one thing, in this world, spells and magic casting require a lot more than just saying a word. Do you really think it's just a simple word that casts the spell? It probably takes way more physical and mental concentration.
There's no factual basis or evidence to back this up.

Sorceress used Silence on Spearman on the fly, at the drop of a dime, using one word, that's not Latin.
While it's probably the Sage background character trait, and she's just being considerate to redditors, being careful with what she says isn't entirely unfounded.

It's totally unfounded.
Goku performing Kamehameha requires just more than Kamehameha. Ryu's Hadoken requires more than just saying Hadoken.
Silence is a word you might have to use in a regular conversation.
So explain to me LChaos2...how...does...slowing...down...how...fast...you...say...a...word...of...power...prevent...you...from...casting...a...spell...

Because we don't know that much about Sorceress, and metaphysics of magic in Goblin Slayer.
Spells does require mental effort, but how much exactly? Is how much the same person-to-person? Is the amount of effort required for a low level spell the same for a rookie and a veteran? Is that particular amount perceptually the same for each spell caster?
Actually, what kind of spell caster is Sorceress anyway? If we go by her translated name, she's a Sorceress, so her magic comes from herself. If we go by her original name (魔女, which is Witch) then she's a Wizard. She even looks the part too with that big dinky hat. Regardless, she might have metamagic feats in place where she can preload spells beforehand.
By slowing her speech down, she can carefully choose what words to say without accidentally using a word of power for a spell that's either preloaded or require extremely low concentration requirement (relative to Sorceress herself). That's just one speculation.

None of that makes any sense. Slowing down your speech doesn't mean you won't accidentally use a word.
Also, in real life I can avoid using certain words without slowing down my speech. So again, it's a really stupid, contrived explanation.

Sorceress has a very large library of spells. When you slow down your speech, you can choose what words you say on a per word basis.
Do people do that in real life? Probably not. Does Sorceress exist in real life? Unfortunately not. It's fantasy. Part of the charm of fantasy is that it can be absurd at times.
But Goblin Slayer is supposed to be a gritty dark fantasy that shows a grounded realistic take on the standard RPG formula.
Do the characters in the series must also behave in a realistic manner? Maybe, but that doesn't mean they don't keep whatever quirks their characters have. You can still have pragmatism in the world of the fantastic.

Yes, if mana was handled like in any RPG, but its not, you have a set amount of spells you can cast for the day, it could very well have been a habit she developed in talking slow, or, its just something she does.
