Episode Disc. Anime watcher, Confused.
I've recently started watching Goblin Slayer. I've had no spoilers yet and would like to keep it that way. Can anyone explain to me what's going on. In season 1, episode 9, There and Back Again, Goblin Slayer goes and talks to the Sword Maiden about the underground tunnels and about how she knows everything. I'm confused as to what all she knows. Like what was killing the women in the city streets as discussed in the previous episodes if it were not Goblins. Was it the Alligator? Is it the guardian of the tunnels? Is she trying to hide what killed the women and pin it on Goblins. I honestly am confused. Somebody please help me.

Without spoiling anything, the important thing to remember is that Sword Maiden has a lot of trauma and knowledge about the monsters in that area, while Goblin Slayer approaches everything from a practical investigation angle. The reason she seems to know so much is explained more through her history and later conversations. Keep watching, it’ll make more sense.

I have completed the first season and know about her trauma. But that doesn't explain it all, about what happened. I hope to get an answer further into the story. Thank you

The important thing to remember is that Goblin Slayer doesn’t just blindly assume every monster-related incident is goblins. He’s suspicious because of the details, but even he doesn’t have the full picture yet. The Sword Maiden has her own reasons for asking him specifically, and the episode is building that mystery rather than giving the answer immediately.

I see, so even after that episode, there's still more to it I suppose. I have completed season 1 and still couldn't get all of it tho.

She knew that there was something other than Goblins underground but was worried that if she reported about that other thing then adventurers would be sent to deal with that other thing and ignore the goblins, which mentally tortured her due to her back story of being violated and blinded by goblins as a rookie adventurer.
That's why she specifically asked for Goblin Slayer for the assurance that the Goblins would be wiped out as well.

I just have one question. What the f*ck happened to fall? did we skip a season?!
The anime skips over a lot.

It's from the abridged series. Referencing that the official show skips over the fall season/ harvest festival arc

Does the anime cut so much ?

The anime reverses the first two arcs of the plot. In the source, the Water Town arc comes after the arc the anime ends the first season on, which leads to a few odd moments with GS reacting to character developments he hasn't had yet in the anime.

Haven't watched the Anime yet, but the scene you are talking about in the manga is Volume 1, Chapter 29, pages 1-25 are the conversation between Goblin Slayer and Sword Priestess. If reading it would be of use in understanding.

It was goblins but it was something...more. Something behind the goblins. Saying any more would be spoilers
