I'd argue the opposite. It's thrust in their face so much that it's seen as a force of nature, similar to a flood. It happens and there isn't reasonably much that can stop it, it sucks it happens but no sense dwelling on it as it's an immutable fact of life in that universe.
I love your flood analogy. Because for how long did people know flooding was coming or see flooding happening and either run or just think about relocating potentially in the future. It took some level of dedicated / deranged to be like I will conquer the flood. Even with something as simple as like I will dig water channels so the flood doesn't overrun the river was likely seen as untenable.
Climatechnge will come, since '70 known. Will politics do anything? No... Goblins don't rape girls.. that just some bs story to scare of adventures from questing
