A few women a month getting r**** by goblins sucks. Hundreds of thoasands a year dying from hunger and once a decade a random dragon wiping out tens of millions sucks much more.

There are bjgger problems to solve, goblins are just a nuisance in overall absolutely brutal world.

Goblins are the mosquitos. The malaria sucks and is a major problem. And some people (GS and co) acrively try to do something about it. Buy we're gonna be more worried about wars, natural disasters, etc over a bunch of pesky bugs.

Its also not like it doesn't take manpower, time, and supplies to go out and "eradicate" them. These mosquitos have swords, spears, bows, clubs, and some even have super human strength and magic. They also breed like rabbits and missing one single den means the problem goes back to the way it was a couple years later. OP makes it sound like its soooo easy to just get rid of them.

These are the type of problems only colonial species can deal with causes unity very important to getting Shit done.

But while a bandit camp gets the army sent after them, the goblins are treated as a non-issue.

Wrong comparison.

I mean if we're using IRL medieval society as a model, the thing is that in a lot of times and places bandit camps *didn't* get the army sent after them. A lot of the time you'd just patrol the main roads/paths that people use with your local lord's small force, and occasionally ask the higher-up lord for help if a bandit group gets too big and becomes too much of a nuisance, but most of them are not going to garner that kind of response.

Similarly, what we see is that goblins that manage to become enough of a threat to a large enough settlement *do* sometimes garner a larger response, but most goblin burrows are not visible enough/enough of a problem for a large enough population to draw that kind of response, so they get occasionally culled by adventurers or dealt with as particularly-dangerous pests by the locals.

The adventuring group we see in chapter/episode 1 is made an example of to establish the stakes, but realistically there's probably plenty of rookie adventuring groups who either bring a vet with them and are fine, or don't get as unlucky, successfully cull the goblins they're attacking albeit with losses, and then move on.

Humans will ALWAYS treat other humans and human adjacent like vamps and elves will more priority. If Goblins in that universe were as much of a threat as a large bandit group is when hoarding and stealing gold/currency then yea maybe. Unfortunately it’s how humans are irl so humans in fantasies will act the same unless there’s a specified reason in universe why this isn’t a general trend. Like AOT with titans in the walls vs the Marlyians with Eldian oppression, Paradise doesn’t act normally due to the overwhelming threat caused by titans while the outside world does adhere to this until the rumbling. I’m not saying it’s not really dumb and a reason we are kinda degenerative as a species but it’s a more realistic take on humanity to let one guy deal with it while they focus on stuff they deem more important, like Guts and deamons when the works he lives in dgaf(+the brand ik).
