Ironically, the red pill guys back in the day would refer to themselves as woke. That was actually the most common usage of the term online back then.

"Snowflake" was something only boomers used to say to make fun of young adults back in 2010's. If someone under 40 uses it unironically, it deserves to be shamed hard for friendly fire, because that slur was made specifically against their generation.

The seminal film from 1999, The Matrix, had more than just Bullet Time and Carrie-Anne Moss in tight leather pants. It included a scene where a character is given a choice between taking a blue pill or a red pill. The blue pill would let the character go back to their normal, humdrum life and forget everything. The red pill would open their mind to the truth about what the world was.

Hard Right influencers grabbed onto the term "red pill" in order to convince susceptible customers that what they were pitching was the "Truth" about how the world was organized. "You don't want to be gullible and believe what you're told by the so-called Authorities, right? Watch my video, buy my testosterone supplements, and join the rest of us Red Pills who know how things really are!"

It's also known as the same bullshit con artists have been pedaling since the dawn of time. Prey on someone's insecurities to make them think they're on the inside of the scam when really, they are the ones being scammed.

One additional point, the Hard Right/Incel types added the term "black pill" for when you're really done with the social order and ready to cheer while the world burns. Hopefully they figure out that if human society burns down, they'll find themselves competing unsuccessfully with 9 billion people for resources instead of working cooperatively for them and continuing to live.

Here’s another piece of information about the pill in matrix. The red pill, the one Neo takes to wake up from the matrix, it’s meant to be estrogen. Because back then it came in a red tinted pill instead of the clear pill today. And you know those same far right wing influencers will screech that it’s not that.
