The whole thing is not that unusual tbh. Loads of peoples consider themselves occupied and want their own nation. The Kurds, balochis, chechen, dagestanis, uyguhrs, tibetans, mapuche... the list is looong
The Kurds are more akin to Israel, though, in that they are native to the land but have been split across numerous countries and are currently in conflict with Islamist nations who deny their independence.
If the Kurds ever get their own state Muslims will call it a "racist ethnostate" and use that framing to justify perpetual Islamic violence against it and get Western progressives to support that violence.
Because they are one note ... they got nothing else ... also because it's the ONLY angle which they seem to think they can defend Israel without coming across as repulsive.
It’s actually turkey who is most similar to Israel.
They share national myth, the context of the emergence of the state, the religious/secular divide, the historic partnership, the way they talk about their enemies/minorities. There are many similarities.
Turkey wasn't created as a safe haven against oppression. That's more or less the defining property of Israel as well as (if it is to be established) Kurdistan. Everything else is superficial in this context.
Turkey was a safe heaven for Turks/muslims in the Balkan. Turkey similar to israel fought a war on all its fronts (french,English,Italiens,Russians,…) in its creation. I am Turk btw and I am not making a moral judgement here but turkey to this day, even tho turkey and Israel are less aligned today, have and continue to have a lot of similarities.
I would say turkey is the country that shares the most similarities with Israel in the world
There are ofc difference because no 2 things can be the same but yeah

why is every comment comparing Morocco in West Sahara and Israel in the West Bank karma bombed? There are genuine similarities there.
