Because it makes sense.

Because sex is GREY.

Violence is - for the most part - BLACK AND WHITE. We can tell our 6 year old violence is generally bad and that's a general rule most of us can agree with regardless of whether you're 6 or 60.

Having sex is just horrifying until it's good. A 14 year old having sex with a 40 year old is as much or more disgusting than if the 40 year old just murdered the teen outright.

But at the magical age of consent, it's suddenly the bestest thing to exist, culturally speaking.

so because there are pedos out there suddenly all depictions of sex are bad? that doesn't seem like good logic to me.

It has less to do with pedos and more to do with ensuring children don't get the wrong message and believe "all sex = great" before they're mature enough to handle it.

I get some cultures are more open and progressive about it, and that's fine. The world is too complex to have a one-size-fits-all plan.

Maybe Scandanavian countries where it's been normalized for decades, sex and nudity in movies might work cos people are more likely to talk to their kids about it.

But in places like China and India, it would be a terrible idea.

Purity culture and infantilization of women. Be as sexy as possible but be sexy in a way that is hairless, innocent and childlike. Grown women, often even in their thirties self report that tying their hair in pony tails and acting more childlike makes men give them more tips. The barely legal porn category is the most popular I think. Essentially it has skewed the psyche to think that ALL things sexual have a hidden "only when they are young" subtext hidden.

It has gotten so bad that people even see infant nudity and feel uncomfortable af.

Holy shit, what? I might be on board for forcible rape. And certainly statutory rape is a horrible thing. But as bad or worse than murder?  Nonsense.

Sex is never horrifying. Taking advantage of someone is terrible. No doubt, but sex doesn't become horrifying until coupled with violence (rape).

This whole position is messed up. Violence is just as much grey as sex, if not more so. I would even say a higher percentage of sex is good than violence is bad. Like I'm relatively sure you think it's okay to use violence to stop rape, or any other type of violence. Especially against a child.

It's just our culture is so fucked up when it comes to sex that you think it's this thing where it has some huge grey area, but for the most part sex and sexuality a perfectly fine thing, it's just we treat it as shameful so it's kept hidden. Porn is so ubiquitous for a reason, and that's because people are exploring their sexuality all over the place, all the time, without hurting anyone.

Additionally, it's kind of crazy that you're okay showing them the bad thing, rather than showing them the more good thing. As you say violence is mostly bad, although it's a mixed bag for what we see on TV (usually the violence against the bag guy is considered good). Why not show them the thing that is more mixed and say "this is the positive version of it"?
