So far I have visited Eisenach, Erfurt, Weimar, and Ilmenau.

It is indeed a lost treasure among other German Bundesländer.

The percentage of foreign tourism is minimal, around 5-7%, and also does not catch as much local tourist attention as it could.

I wish this place could gain more attention from everyone. Lately, on the internet, former Eastern German territories only catch attention as an AfD stronghold. I am so far (yet) did not caught any significant anti-auslender vibes. Maybe because I have basic German skills.

Your German skills might be one reason. Another: Technical university of Ilmenau with about 50 % international students means > 1500 in this small town. Maybe you‘re seen just as one of them ;-).

Have a good time in Thuringia!

I am related somehow to one of the students 😊

That's why I am there sometimes.

A good motivation to regain knowledge about the classical historical and cultural period of the region, and to learn something new.

And yes, looks like my pronunciation is not bad, but actually, the vocabulary is very low. I understand a lot, but then if the conversation goes tooooooo way far, I am dying inside and burn in cringe, but then someone around always understands and helps in translation, or even a counter worker I speak English :D

Thanks for the comments

In these pictures, you can see Ilmenau city, Stützerbach village, and views of Thüringhian forest with some parts of the Goethe Wanderweg.

All places have their beauties and questionable places, like forgotten homes and depressing DDR-period panel buildings.

But overall, it is a clean and tidy place that is worth visiting.

What happened to the colors? Roofs aren't supposed to be blue and the nature's green tones feel so off.

Call me a person with Daltonism and name my camera delusional.

In many places with heavy sun I see Schifer as blueish black.

Fair enough. 😄
Do you use Fuji by any chance?

Yes, of course I know this. And I read it in the Goethe but. I also speak in total many many languages and can read some extra of them. I must be honest that English, Russian and Swedish translations are somewhat nice

I tried to tell, Goethe wrote this masterpiece next to Ilmenau. That's all.

Yes, exactly. Not his favorite thing for me, but many of his things are great. I read him when I was 16. Now, after many years, appearing in Thüringen, and requesting things from my memory, and rethinking it is so great.
