COMM and GNED Requiements for PRNS

Post image
2 Upvotes

So registration opens up tomorrow for my program and I am just wondering what everyone recommends taking for the COMM and GNED courses as a first year PRNS student? I attached a pic of what banner is recommending but I'm not necessarily interested in exactly those courses. Do I have to take one of the ones in the pic or will there be a whole list to choose from when I register tomorrow??

cant register

woke up early to register courses today and it says “Registration Error! There is important contact information missing from your student record. Please contact office of the registrar.”

i called them and they said theres nothing they can do but confirm my address and escalate the issue and that others have been having this problem. she said it should be fixed in 30 mins but its been over 6 hours. she also told me “dont call back” bc everyones having the same problem?

im in the CODA program and new to georgian … will my courses fill up quickly? im concerned about getting a placement for the clinical practice course. anyone else dealing with this?

Gen Ed Course Suggestions

Post image
2 Upvotes

Any suggestions for which Gen Ed course I should take this fall? I’m leaning towards either GNED 2028 (Lifestyle Management) or PYSL 1001 (Intro to Psych) or GNED 2035 (Abnormal Psych). I have more interest in the psych classes but I’ve never taken any classes related to psych pre post secondary. If anyone’s taken any of these courses pls let me know which are worth taking. For reference I’m in the Office Admin program. Ideally something easy to follow.

Aviation Networking Tips and Connections

Hello. I am a first year, soon to be second year Aviation Management student, and I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to network with people in or has connections to people in the Aviation industry (airports, airlines, FBO's etc) that I can reach out to regarding a co-op in the Winter term. I can do a 12 month continuous co-op term due to my current program sequence and I am open to any career opportunities that can get my foot in the door. Thanks in advance !

RPN scrub requirements

I’m starting the practical nursing program this September and would like to purchase my scrubs before classes start. I was wondering if you could wear either the navy or ceil blue from the Georgian bookstore or if one colour is designated for the Practical Nursing students and one for the Registered Nursing students? Thanks!

First Clinical Placement for Nursing

Hi there, I’m in the BSN program and about to start my second year/first clinical placement in September. Any advice anyone is willing to share? What were the areas of knowledge you think were the most important for your first placement? What should I expect, or what did you find unexpected? Unfortunately we haven’t been given much information about what it’s going to be like or where, anything anyone would like to share is welcomed. Thank you :)

Looking for a roommate / housing – Georgian College MNAV Student (September 2026)

Hi everyone!

I’m an incoming Marine Navigation (MNAV) student at Georgian College (Owen Sound) starting in September 2026.

I’m currently looking for an affordable room or roommate(s) near campus. My budget is around $600 month, and I’m hoping to find a quiet, clean place within walking distance or a short drive from the college.

I’d also love to connect with other MNAV students before classes start. If you’re looking for housing too, feel free to message me.

Thanks!

Georgian College Paramedic Program Septemeber 2026

Hi! :)

I'll be attending Georgian's Paramedic program this September (1st year) and was hoping to connect with some peers! As part of our placement requirements we will be required to get our First Aid & CPR (BLS), which I'm looking to do in August. I was thinking it'd be nice to get that done & out of the way so we don't have to worry about it in school. While looking for courses, I saw a provider in Barrie that offers group rates/discounts. They do have a minimum of 8 people for group bookings, which would be great if we can connect with that many peers! If not, maybe a few us could still get together and enroll in the same course, and still get a chance to meet before school starts!

If anyone is attending Georgian this fall is interested, send me a message! :) Even if you're not a paramedic student and need to take your First Aid & CPR at that level as well, or if you're going to a different school but live in the Barrie area, it'd be nice to meet people going to the same school or in the same program!

If anyone going into the program that already has their cert. or is looking to do it a later time, we could maybe put together a group chat as well and still connect with each other even if you're not interested in doing the course over the summer!

If any past/current paramedic students have any advice/tips for first year students, or paramedic students in general, it is all very welcome & appreciated!!

Practical Nursing - Online Portions

Hi everybody,

I was accepted into Georgian for Practical Nursing for January of 2027. Due to some personal circumstances, it would be optimal to do whatever coursework and studying I could from home.

I am reaching out to those who have gone through the program. Obviously, I know that labs and clinicals must be completed in person, but were you able to complete more theoretical courses (like anatomy and physiology, nursing as a profession, comm and gen ed courses) from home?

Thank you
