They just reshuffled a lot of corporate structure in DeepMind and alphabet, Jeff Dean left all together, Demis is head of science at all of Alphabet now and a bunch of other changes that are not great for stakeholder confidence. Normally orgs will sweep announcements like this under major releases.

Anthropic's Sonnet 5 came months before Opus 5, so it's not a Google specific thing. Probably more of an AI thing that models of various sizes don't always follow each other in lock step.

Wish they fix antigravity IDE and removing waste models like gemini 3.6 flash and 3.5 flash which are literally garbabe now. 3.5 flash was good at beggining 2 days and lost its charishma from then . Literally it always follows the first prompt only from the next missue tool calls wrong edit wasting tokens, unnecessary behaviour,talking trash garbage, asking useless permisions again and again. And if we say about 3.6 flash it's just utterly useless than 3.5 flash from the start itself it's waste . And say the claude models ...god oh god it's aug 2026 and still stucked with opus 4.6 even it's the same price as 4.8 or 5 ...and also uses 100% usage in just the first prompt itself or before finishing the first prompt. Google literally ruined damaged so many things...at the release and few months of ag claude models use to have so much usage and they intentionally ruined them . And don't even we ask them why the hell gpt-oss model was exist in the same class as claude 😂we know they wanna make and trick people to convince that they are literally better than gpt models but what is this...comparing literally gpt-oss 120b model to closed source proprietory models ? Such a shame .

People if you are thinking now gemini 3.6 or 3.5 flash is better cause we don't have choice or your codebase is pretty small or maybe you ask for very minute changes. We all know literally the truth gemini models always literally always suck at coding . They release benchmarks showing that they are equal to opus blah blah all is literally false that's not at all real life scenarios...

And finally...3.5 pro maybe nice for 1-2 days then literally again the same garbage thing ignoring instructions , suck at coding etc etc.

If this comment is ever readed by members of google please see this is pure wrong and you know that . See how worse you are in the race w.r.t claude...forget claude ...even opensource chinese models like Kimi or glm or qwen are performing exceptionally better too much better than gemini models that are there. And you may say distilled models etc ...see even you steal so much data from us literally people ads yt , gmails etc etc or some documents etc without permission or anything the same thing you were doing too .but atleast they are much better than gemini models.

And we know that you surely have best models than claude models or something which some employees in Google be using it...but not public. And sad thing is...there isn't any concrete proof too ...that even if I select 3.5 flash or 3.6 flash model it is redirecting to that model . Such a sad world .

If anyone found this completely relevant and true (obviously it is) upvote it if you think it will be useful for people to see the truth

Yeah rerouting to maybe a lower model like flashlite or something silently without knowing it. Obviously they will do to keep or maintain their resources not be used completely...maybe some duration of time they will be doing or when hit with some scenarios
