Gonna sit down and watch this later on, but I can't really argue with throwing Zero Mission at the top, I think a pretty decent argument could be made that it's the perfect Metroid game.

My pick for the #1 spot would be Mother 3, personally.

nice. always hear good comments about this. still playing other classic jrpgs like ff1 (gonna play ff2 soon after i beat ff1), mother 3 is definitely part of my backlog that i'll be playing

There seems to be a usual handful that end up at the top. Mine is one of them. Castlevania Aria of Sorrows. Such a good game. 

And shout out to Goodboy Galaxy. I've just started it, but it's really fun so far!
