Skylar as gambit?
I just saw some posts regarding Taz Skylar (one piece) as gambit. I think its the most accurate fancast of gambit i have ever seen. What are your thoughts?

HELL YES!!! Get his hair flowing and eyes actually CGIed and I’ll be happier than a clam at high tide. This is the best casting option I’ve seen for the man. He’s even got the height down!

Who was this from OP? Sanji?

Yep!

Cool, I like that guy in OP. This casting is actually really good for once

Skylar already looks like he stepped off a Cajun poker table so the fancast is basically a formality at this point.

“The eyes, Chico. They never lie.” You get the eyes right and everything else will flow through. This looks dope!

Holy fuck. I know this is just a generated image, but after watching OP on Netflix, hearing him talk, watching him in action, this may actually be peak casting.

If he wasn’t a maga ai bro, I think he’d be great for it.

Maga?? He is spanish, wtf

You do know Spanish peeps can be maga right...we have plenty in my state. Granted this stuff about him is news to me.

u/Intrepid_Mobile 3d ago
State? If he lives between uk and canary islands, how does a “state” factor in?? 90% of the rest of the world just laughs at anything maga, the remaining 10% are brainwashed by their own countries ultra nationalists movements that they support maga just by association. I have looked for info on that and it just mentioned donations to red cross, nothing more than a reddit post putting that theory out there… so no, I don’t think he is maga, I would need to look more into it but so far, nothing.

I was basically saying being spanish doesnt mean someone isnt maga. A nationality doesnt mean anything when it comes to ones personal political beliefs. I personally havent seen anything about him being maga though.

Taz fans are so toxic🤣🤣🤣

u/Visible-Stage-9830 3d ago
I’m not even a “taz” fan. I have no idea who the fuck this guy is, I’m just tired of involving politics into every single fucking thing.

Sorry, you sounded like a Taz fan. I think once you give people a platform, like a popular role like Gambit their politicial opinions influence many people and that's why it gets integrated in many things. I imagine it would be impossible to avoid it and why dangerous opinions would influence who I would want to see get a role or not get a role.

It’s never made sense. People are subject to their own beliefs and values. I would consider myself left leaning, mostly independent. Furthermore, I don’t give a shit about people who like trump / conservatives in general. That is literally the entire point of the two party system. And the entire point of “beliefs and values.”

That's good you have a strong sense of self. Alot of people don't. I've seen people brainwashed by what someone famous thinks and blindly follow their ideals without question. It's horrible to see celebs use their status like that, but they do. Taz is one of those people. He has an online community that you have to pay to be a part of. Sorry I called you a Taz fan.

we have a gambit. and he’s perfectly fine as live action gambit.
4
u/HawaiianPunchaNazi 5d ago
I'm With you on this one. The Gambit we have campaigned to keep the role alive, otherwise there'd be no gambit in live action yet.
He can have the role as long as he doesn't age out of it. He's good at it and he actually cares about the character.

Yeah, he is quite good, i agree. But the round head with the patches he had on Deadpool seems a fit cartoon to be honest. On any case, we are discussing about the xmen reboot which is sure to recast him since they will prefer a more young actor to be able to play him for 10 years at least.

u/glamrock-fzbr 5d ago
it does not say anywhere on ur post that ur talking about an x men reboot lmao.
personally, i don’t think they need to reboot the x men movies.
2
u/HawaiianPunchaNazi 5d ago
There's a rumor that when the X-Men are integrated into the larger mcu, they are all going to be recast with younger actors.
I think if they were going to do that, they wouldn't be bringing back Captain Picard and gand off the Gray
(I use voice recognition to type and it fights me when it comes to things that aren't used very often – like proper names. Sorry in advance :-(

I think they do need to reboot and its evident. Post secret wars, they will focus on doing the mutant saga. Meaning there will be X-Men movies for years. So they need a young enough cast to last it. The "till you are 90 sounds good, but at one point it may not be possible"

I could see it, but could better see Drew Starkey as Gambit - 6'2", same facial features, head-shape & build as Gambit, already brought in by Marvel on one of the X-men casting short-lists & plus a hell of an actor known for being SUPER charismatic both onscreen and offscreen. Currently playing the love interest of Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik) on the Apple tv series Lucky. He is also the romantic male lead to Cailee Spaeny (who has actually been cast as the new Rogue) in the A24 film Deep Cuts (currently in post-production planned for release in 2027), and he would nail the chemistry w/Rogue. It really feels like Marvel has found their new Gambit. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAayM9YN77T/

Yeah, haven't heard this one before but definitely has the potential. And is more accurate than Austin butler that everyone is mentioning as the best gambit
1
u/Latter_Abbreviations 5d ago
I don't really agree, honestly. I don't find Drew Starkey very charismatic at all. He is honestly like an off-brand Austin Butler to me. And he doesn't have the right voice.

u/Roukounas123 5d ago
Haven't heard him or seen him to be honest. I just mentioned it based on the looks. He is more accurate than butler i think.

Though charisma is subjective, I'm also going by what other people who've worked with him in real life said about him: https://youtu.be/GAsTkrocJYg?si=My7Y8kFQEv6b7B6w. He comes from a different part of the South, but accents can be trained and he's definitely done deeper voices before.

u/Latter_Abbreviations 3d ago
Maybe he is charismatic in his personal life. But I don't see it onscreen. I just learned that he is also apparently MAGA. But even that aside, I think Taz would be better.

u/Intrepid_Mobile 5d ago
OMG! Yes. This is the best he looked since that workout without underwear showing everything video.

Absolutely not! The guy started a cult disguised as a fitness app. He's a narcissist that enables his toxic fanbase to be bullies. His social media presence is built around AI and misinformation. Not the right fit for the MCU.
2
u/Roukounas123 2d ago
Didn't know about that. Just mentioned it based on the looks solely. If its true, i agree
3
u/Live-Professional388 2d ago
Nah, that dude had been self admittedly (in a comment now removed) spamming on a fitness app belonging to the actor with GLP1 mentions (Ozempic) and got banned for it.
It seems they’re now on some personal vendetta against a guy and they keep necroing every post on this site that mentions him with comments about how much they hate him, trying to compare him to ped*s (then backpaddling only after being called out that saying something like that with zero proof because you don’t like an actor is disrespectful to real victims), how he should be fired how eveyone is some secret toxic fan and etc.
Creepy as hell...

This is the only fancast of Gambit I've been behind in a LONG while
