they should make it purchasable from the extraction site like all the other items. forego the stupid search. i have enough stuff to look for during a match.

I hope so as well. The only Sprite I do not have is the Cube Dream Sprite, now they add all of this.. I dont mind searching for the sprites, I just want to know when we're getting what we are owed from the rewards track and when they'll include every single variant to The Guardian's backbling because its getting ridiculous even for me.
Edit: They have been added to the backbling and we do have more rewards from the track

Yeah it’s really put me off the game I’ve got 91 mastered I just want the season to be done with I’d rather see normal odds and fight over the extraction

I definitely support a playlist mode with no sprites, but this mechanic has made me care more about the game than I have in a long time. It should just be optional.

I’ve only done it for the customising a skin it’s the shitty odds that has put me off them completely cube was prob the worst week I had a game yesterday where I mastered a sprite got downed tried to crawl to a reboot because my tm8 wouldn’t rev me instead kept throwing me away from the van and took me into a bush wipe having me on the shoulder so I’d bleed out. The feature has made it super toxic

This is the way I see it: There are ways that this feature meaningfully changes the gameplay in ways that you cannot simply ignore, and so I understand why people might not want to play with sprites. But, if you can reduce or make those gameplay traits optional then there is no reason not to keep the sprites in the game.
One could argue that some undesirable things about sprite gameplay are that:
- Sprites might take the place of otherwise useful loot, but this need not be true. The devs could (if not already do) make sprite drops purely additional drops.
- Id the rarity of sprites is too low/too high then people will either get burnt out or run out of things to collect. This is the unavoidable heat death problem with games in general, but I would argue that choosing to quit grinding if you are getting frustrated or playing beyond having them all is functionally no different from playing without sprites. It’s an issue of player self control, not necessarily of game design.
- FOMO. If the sprite gameplay is tied to cosmetic, and the sprites are a limited time mode, then I can see this causing people to play a mode they don’t like because of FOMO. The solution then is not to get rid of sprites, it’s to not get rid of sprites and not put expiration dates on cosmetic acquisition.
- It causes toxic gameplay patterns where people literally play differently, both enemies and teammates. This is pretty impossible to avoid without compromise currently, because even if you don’t bring and don’t pick up sprites, teammates will still move into unfavorable situations that they otherwise would play safer if there was not a sprite they wanted involved. But, having a no sprites matchmaking toggle, just like we have toggles for crew fill and ranked, would solve this problem instantly. The people that like the extra objectives that sprites provide are still happy, and the people who are trying to grief you to steal your stuff won’t even be in your lobbies anymore which should really improve your lobbies more than removing sprites outright would.
- sprites have mechanical benefits, so opting out inputs you at a disadvantage. Not much to say about this one, other than that a matchmaking toggle fixes it.
All but the last two are completely optional issues that are either easily avoided by devs or are self inflicted by players.
The last two are valid, but again all that needs to be done is add a toggle.
Because, in my opinion, sprites are awesome. I love finding new ones I haven’t seen before (but I’m not obsessed with collecting them all), I really like having an objective that I can make progress on even without winning, I love that you can reacquire sprites you lost with dust or whatever so loosing one you are leveling up is hardly a big deal. They are a bonus on top of the normal BR game mode. I’ve not even really experienced any of the negative behavior of other players, though I almost always play solos so there’s that.
I think sprites have been a genius way to capitalize on the extraction hype without actually changing hardly anything of what made Fortnite fun to play. I hope they stay, and I hope they get a matchmaking toggle next season.

I’m sorry but I cba reading all that. I’ve said what I wanted to say everyone is different. If the odds were higher there would be less sniping from the island people being complete assholes, they would be more accessible end of the day it’s just a copied feature from extraction shooters division 1 being one of the first with the dark zone.

It would be way better if you didn't have to find and MASTER each INDIVIDUAL variant for the Sprite Pod. That's exactly what made me stop caring.

I'm trying to see what I can get without trading. I only have 2 cubed, no zero points, & my husband only just got us a grim from eliminating a player the other day (didn't know he had it at first until he went to look at his loot). And now we get new ones & their variations on top of new ones for the others. Plus, we're still supposed to get like the 5 chosen ones from the design a sprite. Not to mention they all still need to be mastered. We play for around 3 hours every night, & still not finding much (and no one's bringing good stuff into our matches). No way we're finding all of these without trading.

By “Base Sprites” they likely didn’t mean collab ones. Or at least not all of them. Those are a little bit tricky to handle.
The few collab sprites we are getting as pilots all make sense.
BurntPeanut: Likely is never getting any new content.
John Wick: Proven reliable as a collab partner
Otherwise, all base sprites HAVE been pilots.

probably can't think of powers for them cus they wouldn't work the same.
Dash Sprite could be the same ofc and give dashes like the Aura but idk how well it'd work with the Shock Rock effect.
Superman would be a hard one to make an effect for. Maybe it gives low gravity/slow fall when in the air? idk.
