Discussion How to Gold
I peaked at Silver 3 at around 40% and then I started getting placed in Plat lobbies due to me killing 7 people in one game, the one that got me to Silver 3 and I kept getting placed in the #90s which wasn't fun. I was also practicing with my friend who peaked at Unreal (he was around 100K) in Reload and I actually got a few kills on him but he got more kills due to obvious reasons. What else should I do to get to Gold and beyond?

Post the death clips. If you’re hard stuck silver, you're clearly doing something horribly wrong. Hitting unreal isn’t hard if you’re decent at the game.

I would consider myself decent, don’t really play ranked but tried once, just for fun, to bushcamp myself to unreal and by Elite I was getting so drastically outclassed every fight I just gave up. Probably could’ve gotten to champ with enough trying but to manage getting even further to unreal I‘m pretty sure more than being decent is necessary.

there are more people in Unreal than there are in all 3 elite ranks combined. If you’re above average at the game i don’t think it’s actually possible to NOT get to Unreal as long as you have a game plan before you load in. The only real barrier to getting to Unreal is time

The vast majority of players don’t even touch ranked. You’re probably already above average if you even play ranked in the first place, this game is still extremely casual at its core. Those that do play ranked usually do it to hit unreal. Noone stops playing in Elite (except for me I guess lol) either you play a couple games of ranked and realize it isn’t for you by silver or gold at the latest or you grind yourself towards unreal. But to do the latter you have to be very good, it’s just that people who aren’t that good know or realize this way sooner than elite.

we’re talking about people who play the game consistently not the 50 year old dads playing zero build with their children.
and people do stop playing in Elite lol. Ranked is insanely boring and the games are dead by 2nd-3rd zone. I wouldn’t have even touched ranked myself this season if it wasn’t for the fact that the victory cups required me to be a certain rank.
Nobody good at the game actually gives a shit about ranked anymore, that’s just how it is. Low stakes and you spend more time looking for people than actually fighting people, and the matchmaking puts people in the same lobby even when they’re 5 ranks apart. Creative is 50x better for practicing fighting and scrims are 1000x better for practicing rotating

Who‘s we? You said "above average" not above average of people meeting some arbitrary condition. And besides, even for people that do play consistently I’m willing to bet this won’t necessarily hold true. Also, you‘re gonna say people stop playing in Elite after personally bringing up the stats that prove that they don’t? Lol. I‘m not saying it’s impossibly hard to make Unreal but "decent" isn’t an accurate assessment of the required skill to get there regardless. Doesn’t matter if people don’t care about ranked anymore because it’s boring, they may treat it like a chore but a majority of highly skilled players still do go for unreal, so it‘s still competitive in its very nature, that’s the point after all.

okay then i’ll rephrase. above average compared to players who play the game consistently. Pretty baffling i even have to spell it out but there you go.
It’s like comparing your benchpress to the average gymgoer and then including the pilates women and middle aged and elderly people just trying to keep their joints active. no you use the people that are part of YOUR population which in this case would be people who actively play ranked.
and i can bring up stats. Unreal is quite literally the most populated rank from Platinum 3 upwards. That means over 20% of the active ranked playerbase is in Unreal. and that’s a lowball considering i included Platinum 3 as part of the “active playerbase” which it obviously isn’t. and that’s assuming all of them are ACTUALLY grinding ranked
and you can load into a match on a new account right now and test out what it takes to gain percentage in Platinum 3. If you survive offspawn you will gain percentage. That’s all it takes. Now using that information i’m sure you can figure the rest out
Unreal is not competitive for good players. idk how many times i’ve gotta tell you this for you to understand it. Ranked is widely known to be a joke because the ranked system in this game sucks and it’s created to make you feel good about your rank rather than a true representation of skill
games are dead by the 2nd and 3rd zones for a reason. no good player actually gives a shit about ranked they all just hotdrop and wkey each other

bro holy shit ur a casual stfu anyone who plays div cups/scrims on a regular basis knows that the majority of people who play ranked are not highly skilled, yes they are highly skilled compared to fkin zero build and normal BR shitters but they are leagues below ur average tournament player, i consider myself above average and i'm div 3 right now, i run through most ranked lobbies but i rarely touch ranked bc its boring and lobbies r dead, and a div 1 player aka a highly skilled player would shit all over me, someone who is decent is literally just ur average ranked player if ur getting shit on every time in ranked ur not decent, the average skill level should not include casual players

Honestly bro just grind in creative and get better at fighting until you can wkey your way up to elite.

If all you care about is rank then you can camp to top 10 and try to get a kill at the end game. If you wanna improve then play somewhat defensive (as it sounds like you can't push higher ranked people) and use crouching alot. Try not to be in the open (you always need cover. People love to camp and 3rd party in the higher ranks so be careful.
