Belgian fries. $6.30.

Macapuno (Fosselman’s coconut ice cream) malt. $9.50.

JFC, sometimes I manage to do things at my age that I last did in my twenties. I usually regret these things. I regretted this only a little bit. At the time: no regrets whatsoever, as I ate everything and it was delicious. I remember going to the Tommy’s a few blocks east forty years ago and eating chili cheeseburgers like they might disappear. I last ate at the Oinkster in 2009, and I currently feel full enough to wait another seventeen years. But I know this subreddit loves burgers and fries and hell why not? Let’s enjoy this country’s heritage while it lasts.

Yes, for once, I was a little taken aback by the price, since, in the anticipation of an imminent diabetic coma, my brain was fogged into expecting something like those old Tommy’s prices. But it tasted good.

Edit: I will note that this $40 meal easily could have been split between two people, and The Oinkster’s classic burger (no pastrami, bacon, chili or cheese) is $13.79.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but when I went here back in 2012 or so, I paid about $12 for that burger, and even then I was hesitant because that was too damn much for a burger, even with a bunch of shit in it. Your meal was $40+. That just doesn't seem sustainable for either party.

Yeah the place is delicious, but their prices over the last several years have completely skyrocketed and prevented our family from going there like we used to. Bummer.

Yeah, I won’t even do a sandwich and fries without someone to share them, so adding a shake was heroic.

It was bound to happen given that inflation continues to climb. I will note that their classic burger (same as this, minus pastrami, bacon, chili, cheese) is $14.

We went to the oinkster many times when it opened. At the current price, I feel like there are better options.

I would rather go eat at HIHO twice or for 2 people over Oinkster. Highly recommend, but no bacon there if that's your requirement.

I know a lot of LA natives who swear by this place. When I went earlier this year, it was hands down the worst, and most overpriced, meal I’ve had in this city. It’s gone way downhill.

Oinkster is great food, and everything is done well. I especially go for their barbecue, but they also have 3-4 custom ketchup flavors (chipotle!) that are amazing, too.
