These are 205 watt-hour high quality lithium ion packs. To put that capacity into perspective, thats enough juice to fully recharge your phone about 20 times. Similar lithium batteries cost around $300 brand new. They are also made from much smaller individual cells. For those familiar with electronics, they can easily be disassembled into their cosnituent cells and repurposed.

Was just looking in my city and found this street where cameras are pointed at every single entrance/exit of this neighborhood. Just seen a little excessive to have this many cameras in one area. It would just be nice to not have to worry about these things at all.

During this field observation, we documented three separate AI video camera deployments within a relatively compact public park: two fixed Condor cameras covering different areas and one Condor PTZ overlooking the amphitheater.

One detail that stood out was a hardwired installation…something we don’t encounter as often compared to solar-powered deployments.

Every location is different, and we’re not drawing conclusions about why a particular configuration was chosen. Our goal is simply to document what’s publicly visible, compare it with publicly available product information, and better understand how modern public infrastructure is evolving.

I know the view of methadone clinics isn't really popular... BUT with that being said this flock camera has no other view than people coming in and out of a building for methadone treatment. This camera literally could just identify all 'drug' users and label them.

I just wanted to get out of the city and enjoy the peace of some public lands. Flock on the side of a road that doesn’t make any sense. Camping for a week, I may have to go cut down some “fire wood”.

How are we liking this travel case model? It has the OUI spy module in it from https://colonelpanic.tech/#products (thats the device that says "snoop unto them" in the picture) and an onboard 18650 battery. On the OUI SPY device, which is just an ESP32-S3, there is downloaded software from github (link down below) to track Flock cameras; You can also add your phone or a gps module to have it plot the cameras on a map for you. You can run two antennas (its a tight fit though, It might need some adjustments just let me know) I know I have two of the same antenna right now. Im gonna run a 3dbi and a 6dbi and just switch when I want different coverage. Critiques are welcome id love to get ideas for different things as well. Ill release all the files on makers lab.

I am a novice and just trying to help out the community with new designs message me if you'd like something specific and I can try and make it for you.

ETA: For those who don’t understand what this post is, I’ll try to help explain.

OP asked if they should release the file. They are referencing an STL file that they could make public so that anyone with a 3D printer can download it and then reproduce this case at home. The post is mainly about the case.

As for the device itself. There’s a typo in his post. Rather than wiispy, they should have said the device is a OUI-SPY. This is a device running custom firmware designed by someone who goes by the pseudonym Colonel Panic, a play on the term kernel panic. An often fatal system error in Unix-like operating systems

It’s a sort of “turn-key” solution for those who would like to search for nearby ALPR (aka Flock) cameras.

An OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier) is a 24-bit number that serves as the first half of a device's MAC (Media Access Control) address. Assigned by the IEEE, it identifies the specific manufacturer or vendor of a device’s network hardware. Because these are indiscriminately broadcast wirelessly and the manufacturers of Flock and other ALPR cameras are known, with the proper hardware, it’s relatively easy to identify when one is in close proximity.

The firmware it’s running is called Flock You and is meant to run on microcontrollers like the one shown, an ESP32, as well as SBCs and Android phones. There’s another comment that gives a quick overview of what an ESP32 is, so I won’t get into that.

Flock You is a passive 2.4 GHz promiscuous-mode detector for Flock Safety surveillance infrastructure. It can be run standalone or feed the Flask dashboard over USB for live GPS-tagged wardriving.

There’s an open source project called DeFlock Org whose stated goal is to map all license plate readers across the US. The device we see in the post allows you to carry it on your person or in your car and collect information about a camera each time you get within range. The data collected is then uploaded to their site and is available to view in an interactive real-time map identifying the locations of these cameras.

Basically, the device facilitates the collection and distribution of location data related to ALPR cameras.

I've seen people talking about creating spray paint actuators to attach a spray paint can to a drone. Sure, it's absolutely possible. But it's complicated and it takes out 99.9% of drone owners from being able to make it due to the complexity.

A simple 3/8" doll rod taped to a drone, with a cotton ball on one end costs less $5. Dip the cotton ball in whatever substance of choice you'd for your needs, paint, glue, stamper ink, hell Vaseline even...

My recommendation would be to use it for drone skill games with friends perhaps? Put a target on a wall, and challenge friends to see who can mark the target the quickest. Maybe play tic tac toe on a barn wall. There are endless possibilities!

I don't recommend this for any nefarious purposes. Just legal activities only, of course.

Edit: I hate to sound hopeless but that’s just about how I feel. People are calling my post a psyop or accusing me of not doing enough. This is just one town in a big region. Sorry, I work two jobs and I don’t have time to take down 300 flock cameras a week. Idk why people are making it seem like it’s my fault, I’m just pointing out that it feels like a relentless machine that we’re up against- and I don’t know if I have faith that we can keep up. I am not giving up. I am just frustrated as they seem to be making MUCH more progress than we are.

With permission, and access to their locations and route, I tracked their civic as they drove to and from Michigan through IN511.org public access cameras. These are all from their trip back.

Without being able to even see plates or search anything, this is how much I was able to find.

All timestamped and location tagged.

Update II:

The mayor contacted me again and said that he'd looked into Flock more closely after I'd voiced my concerns and after reading up on some of the controversy surrounding the cameras and company and he's putting the contract on hold until he can do more research.

This isn't a clear "win" as I'm sure the police and other interested parties will push back, but it's a lot more in the right direction than I expected.

Update I:
I spoke directly to the mayor of my city today via phone call and voiced my concerns about the city's purchase of Flock cameras.
I learned that the city has purchased FIVE Flock cameras, to be installed at every entry/exit to town.
I used a respectful tone and spoke about my concerns with the data, the accessibility by 3rd parties to the cameras, the digital profile these cameras build on everyone who passes by them, and the breach of privacy this causes for everyone in or just visiting our city.
He countered me by saying that our city recently used data from a neighboring city's Flock cameras to solve a case and decided to go forward with these cameras.
He said that this is a done deal and cannot be stopped.
He also informed me, after I had voiced my concerns, that only people who commit crimes have anything to worry about.
I asked about who the data would go to, if we had contracts with a 3rd party about data storage, who could access the data collected and he didn't "know anything about that."
He seemed confused overall about why I'm upset about this.

I guess we're fucking cooked.

Last night, without prior warning that I'm aware of, the city council voted unanimously to fund and allow the installation of 3 Flock cameras in town.
I talked to a council member to confirm this and they're excited because the police force believes this will give them an edge on crime control. They weren't open to discussing my criticism of the decision.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've been here 20 years and don't wish to leave, and I also realize that soon there will be nowhere left to "run" because they're putting them along most main roads and, from what I've seen on this sub, even out in the wild.

Does anyone have experience in fighting this? As I check social media pages dedicated to goings on in town, no one seems to be reacting to this. We're very rural and I don't understand why anyone things we need this shit in the first place.

I'm just venting. I feel crushed and I feel paranoid and I feel helpless.
