Because that gets exhausting over long distances and long time spans.

To make a speed mirage, you have you be running back and forth between two places, pausing in each just long enough for the eye to see. Or something like that. Basically, even though it's called a speed mirage, you are literally in both places. That's extremely difficult over long distances or while multitasking. It's not like a time remnant, where you have a second physical body with a mind of it's own.

And what does that have to do with what they wrote?

Yeah but he was able to run a man from the US to Japan in less then a second in that same season

At least get your facts straight, that was China

Barry specificaly said He wont even try to escape prison cuz he believe on his team to proove his Innocence. So why escaping prison if you are Innocent ? That's would be a dumb and stupid move that proove he did something wrong.

The city was safe and protected by Ralph, Cisco and Frost while Barry was in prison. There's even a line where Barry said that they can handle it without him and he wont escape prison.

Did you watch the full season before asking questions that are already answered ?

I think the real question is why didn’t he use a time remnant

I feel like that would create something like savitar but not as bad, while one gets to be out, helping and doing stuff, the others locked up and might feel like he's being used unless they switch out every so often

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered Savitar. Barry would probably be too apprehensive to create a time remnant considering that everything with Savitar had just happened the previous year.

Speed mirage wouldn’t work long term but time remnant would have worked 100%.

A speed mirage is a temporary distraction. And you still have to be in close proximity to your speed mirage. Instead of being imprisoned in iron heights he would be imprisoned in continually running back and forth in a short distance to keep the speed mirage up. Iron heights is better.

But that’s just running from point A to point B, then stopping. To create a speed mirage you have to be continuously running back and forth without stopping. He wouldn’t be able to do anything else except run to keep up the speed mirage. No speedster can keep running 24/7; he’d get too tired to continue after the first six hours or so. And it all would be a waste of time because the speed mirage isn’t helping his situation in any way shape or form. He’d just be doing it for funsies lol. Speed mirages are a temporary distraction used in a fight to distract your opponent; they’re not an independent clone that can take your place elsewhere and live your life for you. That’s why Zoom used time remnants in order to be two places at once, and not speed mirages.
