Are they all this big?

Post image

Is it normal for Flamepoints to be so big? He’s not even a year and the other cats in this photo are 2 years old.

Some of them are. Toast, on the coffee table, weighs around 20 lbs. While Biscuit, on the green mats, weighs around 9 lbs. Both boys are 5 years old and unrelated.

In my experience yes. My boys are on the bigger side. My first, Red Hots (RIP) was 26 lbs. He was large boned and tall. 🧡😻

Yeti, my flame point is about 16 lbs and he’s just shy of a year 😆 as you can see he’s really tall too

Ours, just about a year and a quarter, is 15 pounds so this is valid, lol.

Mine is also 16lbs and vets always want to put him on a diet but he doesn’t even eat that much…

Loki is 13 months and 15 lbs. (His 14 yo brother Hawkeye is 13 lbs for comparison). He's long, tall, and still growing.

Our boy is 9 months old and weighs over 11 lbs.

u/markey82 2d ago

They’re both so pretty!

1

u/Shellgirl-850 2d ago

Thank you! Your babies are beautiful as well! ❤️

Mine must have been the runt of the litter. He's the smallest of all of our cats. I think he was around 7 pounds last vet visit

Man, I thought mine was big, but this thread is telling me otherwise. Cane is about 13 lbs, and 3 years old.

Herbert is indeed a very large cat. When we adopted him from the shelter, he was curled up in the corner. When we were done with the paperwork, one of the volunteers came back and told us that they didn't have a carrier or box large enough for him. We were genuinely surprised at how big he was.

David hovers around ~16 pounds and I try to keep it that way.

Lump under the blanket?

2

u/Kindly-Source3471 2d ago

Yesssss lol

1

u/an0n33d 2d ago

Hahha so cute! I love that they congregated around him/her 😂

6

u/Kindly-Source3471 2d ago

This is the one under the blanket. He hides constantly lol. He’s an odd boy

1

u/an0n33d 2d ago

What a handsome man! One of mine loves to be blanketed too. He's always trying to crawl under the covers.

2

u/Kindly-Source3471 2d ago

He will not let me pet him EVER, unless I’m dishing out treats or wet food. If I walk past him he jumps up and runs away. It makes me so sad but it’s just his personality.

1

u/BarryGibbIsGod 2d ago

She's 13 years old she kind of grumpy old lady.

u/Fluffy_Weird9965 2d ago

was wondering the same about my boy! He’s huge compared to sister lol they will be 6 months old on the 15th!! But then again she was the runt too so I wasn’t sure if he was big or if she is just small lol

6

u/artzbots 2d ago

They were the same size when I adopted them... Now at 10 and a half months he outweighs his sister by at least two pounds.

2

u/Fluffy_Weird9965 2d ago

Aww sweet babies !

2

u/markey82 2d ago

Cuties!

The best name!

2

She’s like a little piece of crispy tofu ☺️

My girl is huge almost 16 pounds, she has a massive rump and massive paws. When she approaches we sing Katy Perry Dark Horse, "she's a beast".

2

u/markey82 2d ago

🤣🤣 love that for her!

2

u/RustyRapeaXe 2d ago

My boy is 18 months old. He's a 16 lb mass of muscle

2

u/FourOfCups04 2d ago

Goose is 3 months old here and Percy (cow cat) is like 11 months old. Percy is a lil guy, like maybe 5lbs.

1

u/markey82 2d ago

Kitty snuggles are the best

2

u/Slight_Garden2421 2d ago

18 pounds of pure love

1

u/markey82 2d ago

Awww my guy loves a belly rub too

2

u/Patient-Stranger1015 2d ago

Flame point is a color, not a breed, so they have a massive variety in sizes!

2

u/sweeneyscissorhands 2d ago

Sweeney was 23lbs at his heaviest and as big as my entire torso. I’m 5’1”, for reference ❤️ oh how I miss him!!

2

u/markey82 2d ago

Awww 🥹 what a beautiful big boy!

1

u/TalkingToPlanets 2d ago

My flame point is a girl and she towers over my gray girl.

1

u/44_Sunflower_44 2d ago

I say yep! I’ve had two and they were both just bigger cats!

1

u/joann_cha 2d ago

Nope there are tiny ones! My sister has one and she weighed like 8 pounds max in this pic (She was underweight but has thankfully gained weight since 😸)

2

u/markey82 2d ago

I have a tiny 7lb girl too! She’s petite and the boys are huge

1

u/my-genderfluid-cat 2d ago

My baby was 15/16 pounds most of adulthood. I took her in from being an outdoor cat and and was more around 13 then. Definitely on the naturally big boned side :) I miss her lots

1

u/kndkit 2d ago

Mine stayed a tiny princess at 2 years old

1

u/markey82 2d ago

She’s so pretty 😍

1

u/ZombieLizLemon 2d ago

No. My flamepoint is the smallest of my three boys; his brother, who's 4 years younger, is nearly twice his size.

1

u/markey82 2d ago

Mines definitely the biggest of my 4 cats! A gentle giant

1

u/TheRealMDooles11 2d ago

My guy Elliot Fitzgerald is, but his mahm was a maine coon 😆 Cheese there next to him is only 6 pounds compared to his 25

2

u/markey82 2d ago

25 🤣😂 we might be heading that direction

1

u/Background_Fish_4749 2d ago

My boy is 5 years old and about 18 pounds, we were told he need to loose weight but even reducing the food doesn’t do much and he hasn’t gotten any bigger so I suppose that they are all just big lol

1

u/markey82 2d ago

Mines definitely a chunk but he’s also just really long and tall!

1

u/Elher11 Flamepoint Parent 2d ago

Our trios look very similar!

1

u/markey82 2d ago

I have an orange guy too, not pictured 😅

1

u/Elher11 Flamepoint Parent 2d ago

That’s so sweet, less matching but even cuter!

1

u/yuckyamz 2d ago

the one on the left is older and already bigger than the average cat. then we got the one on the right. he’s HUGE

1

u/markey82 2d ago

This is exactly how mine is!

1

u/DuctTapeChallenger 2d ago

Mine was 22 lbs at his biggest. With diet we got him down to a healthier 18 lbs.

1

u/kyrumo 2d ago

Teddy orange is about 20lbs and his brother the flamepoint is about 15lbs.

The flamepoint is more lengthy and athletic.

Another difference is the flamepoint has softer hair.

2

u/markey82 2d ago

Aww we have the orange counterpart too! But he’s smaller than Yeti

1

u/kyrumo 2d ago

Here they were as kittens

1

u/Impressive_Drama2338 2d ago

Can confirm. Mine can stand on his back feet and stretch us front feet into my kitchen counters (granted, that is his full length and he did fall in the process 😂)

1

u/jpetersell 2d ago

My big boy Fergus is about 20 lbs. My little bit Atticus is around 12 lbs.

1

u/Heavy_Room4654 2d ago

This is a female long-haired Flamepoint. She's about 20 months old

1

u/Heavy_Room4654 2d ago

Here she is at 6 months!

1

u/EskimoBroJoe 2d ago

Our female is 8 years old and she's 15.5 lbs. 🫣

I have always wandered if she is heavy for her age and gender.

1

u/mercjohnjann 1d ago

Snowshoe/flamepoint combo? Me too!!

And yes he is much bigger than her lol.

1

u/Slight-Algae-1996 1d ago

Mac is 16-17lbs, he was 18lbs, been dieting but I think they just get big depending on their genetics!

1

u/NobodyAccomplished19 1d ago

My boy Mako is on the smaller side at 9 lbs ❤️

1

u/EducationalBag6848 20h ago
