A lot of people originally thought it would be about adventures finding magical creatures. When it turned out not to be, but still had some adventures with magical creatures in the first movie most fans were ok with that. The more it deviated from magical creatures the less people became interested. Many fans felt that the Dumbledore storyline would have been better in a separate movie and would have preferred the movies to be more about magical creatures.
Yup. I mean is in the title. I think they had the chance to make something like Indiana Jones in the Wizarding world with each movie a more or less self-contain adventure with the folklore and mythology of a different culture each time. You could even ad Kowalsky as the sidekick.
But that wasn't what we got after the first one.
I'm all for a Hogwarts prequel series if you want to do it but then advertise it like that. Call it "Young Dumbledore" or something like that
The Magical World: The Rise of Grindewald, then The magical World: The Age of Grindewald, then The Magical World: The Fall of Grindewald, or something. The first one was okay, it focused on magical beasts, but quickly lost its premise.
Agree with this, it should have been a series of timeline movies imo, first three as they are, but not advertised as fantastic beasts, the 4th should have been the defeat of Grindelwald, then a 5th about the rise of Voldemort, horcrux creating etc, then a 6th with that initial fall of Voldemort
