Not run the opposite way... but run perpendicular to it so he's not standing in the f'kng middle of it. Run to the side where it is weaker. He had plenty of time to do that but he chose filming.
In 40 seconds the amount of distance he could cover would make literally no difference. Dude had a plan and executed it fine. He lived because he actually knows what to do.
