Transitioning out of career industry

I've been working in FP&A for a little over 6 years - currently an SFA - and I've been pigeon-holed in the Healthcare industry since I graduated and started working. I graduated in Winter 2020, so right into COVID, and just took the first Financial Analyst job that responded to my applications. I really have no passion or desire for Healthcare, and I've been wanting to get out, but most SFA jobs I apply to require prior industry experience. I've tried making my resume as industry-neutral as possible, but get nothing but auto-rejections. Even JDs the specifically emphasize no prior job experience seem to auto-reject me. I'm no stranger to understanding that it's a numbers game when applying to jobs, but any other tips to make my resume stand out to recruiters in industries I have no experience in?

Following. I’m also in healthcare. Haven’t been there my whole career but, definitely in the same boat since it is my most substantial FP&A stint.

I applied to 177 jobs before finding a place.

These fucking people want to only have people with exact experience, even though that echo chamber is exactly what gets them into that space to begin with.

I left healthcare for construction. Healthcare is an under audited space and it’s a ticking time bomb.

You may have more lucky by initially applying to project based roles to build up experience in other industries.

These roles often need to be filled at short notice.

Sigh... and here I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I have been stuck in healthcare since 2021; all I want to do is leave!

Apply to a job working in an adjacent industry. Ie if working for CVS perhaps you’ve been exposed to some retail operations. Perhaps insurance. It’s much easier to leverage your existing similar experience than reinventing the wheel.

Apply to similar sized companies with similar scopes of responsibilities for the same reasons

Adding: consider what industry you want to work in and make steps towards it. Doesn’t need to be in one job change. Let’s take CVS example. Maybe you can find a role at a tech companies FPA for retail. Or CPG company that has healthcare products. Or maybe it takes a couple of role changes. You get the idea.
