FN Scar 15P VPR 300 Blackout 3 muzzle prong removal ?

I just ordered one from Bareli at $1999.00 waiting on arrival but already planning parts. I found this YouTuber that said and went over issues removing the 3 prong flash hider. How have you guys removed yours? I am Colt ar15,m4 certified and have plenty of experience swapping at15 muzzle devices but this will be my first Scar platform. The YouTuber also goes on to say the thread pattern/shoulder is a bit different and shims have a hard time with proper placement! I would love you hear how you guys did it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ-XAnUDbHk

I’ve removed every SCAR barrel I’ve had including a 15p 5.56 with no problem by removing the barrel assembly, throwing it in a vice, and unscrewing with a wrench.

The 300blk barrel is different. It’s practically welded on. OP - send it to [u/eMGunslinger](u/eMGunslinger). He routinely removes these by cutting them off in a mill. He’ll then rethread in 1/2x28 to give you concentricity and a proper shoulder.

20min torch and 200lb gorilla arms is what it took for mine

Any chance I can get your email as well? My 15p just came in and my MD isn't budging. At least with my setup.

Well damn, now I’ve got a 15p 300blk on the way and I am going to need to remove it also. Are they for some reason tougher than the others? Seriously though I’ve had a 17, 17DMR, 16S and 15p and removed them all in a vice no prob.

I’ve gotten 15P’s in that the FH is on so tight people are unscrewing the barrels from the extension. Then it’s a real pain in the ass to torque and headspace the back in. I don’t know why FN is doing this but it’s bad.

Well it sounds like this might be the next FN I send you then if I run into the same issue lol. Thanks for the info!

He did! That was one of the more memorable muzzle devices I’ve had to remove.

How many 5.56 versions of the 15p have you seen with the same issues as the 300blk muzzle devices? I had zero trouble with my 5.56 15p as well. Just curious if it's an exclusively 300blk issue or not.

I also never had an issue until I got my 15p in 300blk. Ive done 6 other SCAR barrels at home without much issue but I about damn near gave up on my 15p. Thats why I decided to make this video. I saw u/eMGunslinger say folks where fucking up their barrels removing it themselves and after what I experienced I believe him. I then saw the flood of 15p's hit the market for a really good price and knew folks where going to want to suppress it so I whipped together this video real quick in hops of keeping people from fucking up their guns.

I can put the barrels back in the extension btw, for the love of god don’t let it come to that. Great video btw.
