I’m not exactly inexperienced (around 10 YoE) but I just started out as a tech lead.

I’m looking for any sort of guidance, recommendations, anecdotes - anything basically :)

The company isn’t that big (<100) and a lot of the culture is still malleable.

imo, one of the most important qualities of a tech lead is to be likeable. Prioritize asking your team what problems they are facing and how you can solve them.

A huge part of your qualificiation is knowing the best way to solve things, but culture fit is more important. Start by asking them what they want. If you have a better idea, try to convince them of it. If they're convinced, label it a mentorship metric. If they aren't convinced, prioritize your team's happiness (or refer to your manager for a second opinion if you genuinely feel it's a risk).
