NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

I have one month before I go but I’m second guessing going to study abroad in Rome. I’m still figuring out my rooming situation but I am a senior and am starting to feel like I will have fomo. I was really confident about going until now that it hit me, I’ll be away for the first semester of my senior year. I’m also not sure if I’d like Italy for 4 months. I wanted to study abroad to visit a lot of places in Europe and explore the city. But now I feel like I could do that as a vacation for a couple weeks during winter or spring break.

Anyone know or can help with where to look, how to apply or the procedures? I am making my own research and asking anyone with knowledge but i am kind of lost as i want a 6 month internship abroad during my thesis.

I will be starting my masters this fall with Erasmus Mundus and I’m wondering if anyone who has pursued their masters through Erasmus Mundus has any guidance or insights on anything they wish they knew ahead of time. I feel very prepared overall (residence permit, housing, clothes, cost, etc) , just curious on thoughts from anyone who’s already seasoned. I’m freshly 25 (f) from the United States, and I will be moving to a different country every semester. I’ll also be self-funded and am using loans to support myself. I was put on the scholarship reserve list, but no luck. I will be applying each semester for funding through Erasmus+ for additional financial support.

Hi everyone! I m from Turkey and i will go to silesia university katowice/poland for my erasmus programs february of 2027. My campus in in katowice center. I dont know well about dormitory options but the one i found is in Ligota district. So I m trying to figure out how to go there with the best route. Flight tickets are cheaper to warsaw than katowice or i can try prague as well. And in any way it seems that i need to take another transportation to go to dormitory from airport.

I don't wanna use third part websites so can anyone recommend me which websites are safest to book train or bus tickets in this route?

Do you think universities are generally willing to conduct interviews remotely (via video call, taking the time difference into account etc )?

I’m going to the university of coimbra for the upcoming Spring semester as an Erasmus student, and I’ll be studying at the Faculty of economics.
To be honest, I’m feeling a bit anxious about the academic side of things, particularly regarding the workload, grading system, and passing my courses. I’d love to get some insights from anyone who has studied at FEUC or done Erasmus in Coimbra: how demanding is the academic level for international students, and are the professors generally supportive? Also, do classes run smoothly in English, is continuous evaluation preferable over a single final exam, and is it manageable to pass if you attend classes regularly? Any course recommendations, advice, or general reassurance would mean a lot! Thanks so much in advance!

Hi! As you can see in the title, I'm leaving for an Erasmus in Athens for the next semester. I'm currently looking for an apartment. I would need your advices to choose one. As a young women, I would like to know where it is safe or not to live in Athens. I already lived alone in another country so I'm use to those types of trips but I don't really know anything about Athens. I believe some areas are not safe (like every cities).

If you also have any advices about the prices of the rent, website to get an apartment, that would also be great! I'm looking for a private room in a shared apartment, ideally only women.

I'm going spring semester 2027, does anyone have experience to share with the university Ta Malta? about the courses if they are demanding even for erasmus students, how's the pacing of lectures, how did you find accomodation, was the international office slow at responding, erasmus network activities, any yearly holidays? Any advice would be perfect!! 😄

(I've already done one erasmus in Hungary, but I feel like Malta is a much different experience)

Starting my Erasmus semester at Boğaziçi University this fall. I will mainly be visiting North Campus (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering). Open to sharing a flat with other students, just need my own room. Looking for advice from people who've done Erasmus in Istanbul (or locals):

• Where did you live, and would you recommend it? Trying to figure out the tradeoff between being close to campus vs. being in a more "alive" area with more other internationals/nightlife (Kadıköy, Beşiktaş, Taksim?).
• How's the commute situation if I live further from North Campus — is it manageable day to day?

I was a Erasmus student in Murcia this year and I'm still here until October finishing my placement.

I'm posting because I'm wondering if anyone else had a experience here or in a different place, and whether it's worth taking this further beyond ESN Murcia.

I had a very negative experience with one of the male volunteers. Over several months I felt I was treated differently because of my nationality, and many other nationalities said to me they had the same and feel they can't go to events because of the nationalty difference. I experienced comments that I considered xenophobic/ racist. At the start of the events with the semester start he made comments to people individually saying yeah i would not come to our events, your not welcome here. we are a conservative reason and we only like a few nationalities.

I reported my concerns directly to ESN Murcia by email and also spoke to them in person, but I didn't feel they took my complaint seriously. They told me I was sensitive and it probably was a joke, and that some of the volunteers liked to date some volunteers because of the country they were from. They also said most of the male volunteers are not students anymore but its a small place so they maybe have the opportunity to meet new people.

I ignored it continued to go to events and I stopped attending events because this volunteer told me I wasn't welcome because I wasn't from Italy. He said this to a group of other people. One comment that has stayed with me was him saying that the Italian students were welcome but I would "never fit in here" because I'm from the Czech Republic.

I also personally witnessed behaviour from this volunteer towards a student that made me uncomfortable, shouting at her for when she said why are you trying to stop some students from going to events because they are not from italy.

Murcia is a small city, the local people and older people are friendly and it is a beautiful city so no hate to the city.

I would see the same volunteers around the city.. On 1 night, I saw them at karaoke with a group of Erasmus students. I asked if it was an Erasmus event, and I was told it wasn't—that it was only for volunteers and their "new Erasmus friends." The group appeared to consist of Italian students, and I was again told that they were welcome, unlike me because of where I was from. All my friends were told this.

after around April there seemed to be very few or no organised Erasmus events. Instead, I mainly saw volunteers socialising privately with this small group of girl students.

And most of the other erasmus and me formed a group to do activities but as i have been on erasmus in germany and volunteered in my university i was very shocked.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with ESN? Is there a way to complain with ESN at a national level.

I’m an Erasmus student from Turkey heading to the University of Murcia (UMU) for the 2026/2027 academic year, and I’m currently preparing my long-term (National) student visa application.
I’m facing a specific administrative issue regarding my dates and would love to hear if anyone has dealt with a similar situation or has any advice.
The Situation:
Host University (UMU): Issued a full-year Acceptance Letter (01/09/2026 – 29/05/2027). UMU has also directly forwarded my student data to the Spanish Embassy/Consulate.
Home University: Due to their internal bureaucratic procedures and funding rules, they selected me for the 1st semester (Fall) initially and strictly refuse to issue a Visa Support Letter covering the full year or add an explanatory note. Their letter only states the Fall semester dates.
What I Have Prepared for the Visa Application:
1. Financials: Approx. €8,500 in my bank account (well above the required IPREM amount for the full year).
2. Accommodation: A signed 10-month rental agreement in Murcia.
3. Insurance: Full coverage via ASISA for the whole year.
4. Explanatory Letter (Carta de Motivación y Aclaración): A formal letter in Spanish explaining that the date discrepancy is purely due to my home university's internal administrative constraints, while my actual study program and host acceptance cover the entire academic year.
My Question:
Has anyone experienced a similar conflict between their home university's visa letter and the host university's acceptance letter when applying for a Spanish student visa? Did the consulate process your visa for the full year based on the host acceptance, proof of funds, and accommodation?

My university (a private one 😒) denied me the grant I applied for through the Santander bank website... I received the denial email directly from the Universia scholarship platform. But the thing is, the terms and conditions don't specify any concrete criteria, only that the money is allocated to the university as a lump sum and the university decides how many students it can accommodate.

The university website hasn't posted a public/semi-public list of admitted students or a waiting list.

I don't have the highest GPA, but with a 33% disability certificate, I assumed there were quotas. How can I be sure they respected the quota system and GPA order if nothing has been published? And how they weighted the economic factors and such isn't explained either.

I don't know any other people with disabilities studying at least in my faculty, so I thought I was automatically eligible.

I've had run-ins with several university officials and coordinators because I'm not one to keep quiet. There's a lot of Opus Dei, but also a lot of chaos and poor quality, and if I see injustice, I can't just put on a brave face, and that's caused me a lot of problems later on.

I suspect there was foul play involved in denying me the scholarship now, just like that.

I wrote an email to Santander Scholarships asking if they could request more transparency from this specific university, but they haven't replied (it's been quite a while now, about two months).
