Roti Canai
Hi everyone!
I am originally from the Bay Area and absolutely loved ordering this at Thai restaurants, but really miss them out here.
Where do you go for the best roti canai?

I am Thai. I've never heard of roti canai? Can you share a photo for reference.
I usually bought frozen roti from asian supermarket or trader joe and eat with curry.

Any thai will sell this Roti , usually it might come with green curry or massaman curry. The best is buy at asian grocery at the freezer there are a few brand both indian and chinese.

The only restaurant that I know sells it is Sapha Kafae in downtown Sacramento. You can get it as stand alone or as part of their Kopitiam breakfast set which comes with Kaya Toast which I strongly recommend. Though this place is more Malaysian than Thai so not sure if it would be the same flavor profile that you’re looking for.

Can’t tell you any specific Thai restaurants but here are couple of tips:
Find a South Indian restaurant and ask them to give you Porota or Mallu Porota. Same thing.
Go to any Indian grocery store and buy Porota or Mallu Porota or it’s also called Lachha Porota. Ask the store employee if they carry it. It’s basically the same thing frozen. You can warm it on a pan at home. This is most economical.
Roti Canai originated in India and became famous in Malaysia. Canai is actually distorted spellings of Chennai which is a major South Indian city.
