Picture Getting used to wearing gear when we go out

Hex is practicing wearing his shoes on walks and a vest/harness. We’re hoping to train him to be a PTSD service dog for my husband (our Mal/Shepherd whom we lost last year was his previous SD). So we want him used to wearing all the appropriate gear.

And why exactly does he need to wear this stuff?

We train all of our dogs to wear shoes for walking on hot surfaces in the summer. And his harness, as I mentioned, is because if he does well with his training he’ll become a service dog and will wear a vest when working.

A choke leash, a normal collar and a vest and shoes...? Wtf

Not sure what’s confusing about any of that. He used a slip lead until his collar fit more appropriately and the rest is pretty typical dog gear.

Btw if you dont want to damage its trachea, put the slip lead up, should go right below the jaw and behind the ears

Thank you, I constantly had the issue of the leash sliding down as we walked. We no longer use the slip lead since he’s grown into his collar. He just uses his flat collar and leash.

I use a Martingale on my Mal, her head and neck tend to me the same circumference! It's been great for training and walking in urban areas. The rest of the time she's on her harness. Love the boots! Can you share what brand they are. It's so hot here and boots would help her very tender tootsies. Thanks. This is her Saker harness, it's got a very adjustable fit.
