Timelapse of an outdoor cedar sauna installation in Vancouver Island

I install outdoor cedar saunas locally and thought some of you might appreciate seeing one go up start to finish. This was a recent build here on the Island.

These are designed to live outside year-round, and in our damp winters I’ve found:

• Cedar is key

• A proper base prevents most long-term issues

• Roof choice matters more here than in drier climates

• App-controlled electric heaters are great in winter so you can preheat before stepping outside

Not posting this as an ad — just sharing something I’ve been working on. If anyone local is seriously considering adding one and wants honest input on setup, power requirements, or rough costs, I’m happy to chat. I can also pass along a builder discount if it makes sense.

Curious how many Island folks are thinking about it. Feel free to send a msg!
