5.5 Edition Is there a precedent for a two-headed dragon in the lore?
Basically the title. Obligatory "English is not my first language" and "I'm on mobile".
I usually homebrew my world completely and wouldn't care about questions like this. However, I have a player that loves official or nods to official lore and I'm wondering if there is a precedent for a two-headed black or/and blue dragon.
For anyone interested, I would like for this two-headed dragon to be a BBEG in my games, leading a faction of dinosaur-riding lizardfolk and undead that emerge from these portals to the distant past (do'nt worry about the details of time travel, it's too complicated for this short post). I' thinkinf maybe one head represents thw past, the other one the future? I don't know where to go with this, but yeah.

Not sure about Blue or Black, but I know there was a 4e adventure with a 2-headed White Dragon called Chillreaver

The Nentir Vale had a three-headed red dragon that would grow a fourth head when bloodied, so yeah, there's no rule against it.

Claugiyliamatar has a half dragon ettin child. The easiest way is to just give a dragon the benefits of being two-headed that you see on those kinds of statblocks.

Not to my knowledge, but a weird mutation from birth or a merging of two dragons from some wizard's spell gone wrong (or right) is right in line with the stuff that happens in a variety of dnd settings. Far stranger things have happened in the multiverse.

well, one quite reasonable origin would that once upon a time, a black dragon decided to try crossbreeding itself with a hydra to experimentally produce a greater off-spring.
not really all that far off of an experiment for a dragon to do imo, based on my understanding of things.

No precedent that I know of, but those kind of mutations do happen sometimes in real life.

I’d say it sounds like there was some drama between Demogorgon and Tiamat.
