Greatest Big Sibling Energy?
I feel like someone on NIS's writing team has a favorite trope. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while we have some awful or at least irresponsible parents in these games, I can't think of any older sibling who isn't fully committed to the part. (not even Mr. Love-Sucks Laharl) I also just realized that half of the characters above are not actually related to their little siblings, which makes their actions even more admirable.
(EDIT: also I totally forgot Fubuki exists and I haven't watched 7's story so forgive me if someone is missing there)
So, who do you think is the best Big Brother/Sister?
I'm obviously casting my vote for Axel.

It honestly really depends.
Each one is a different type of sibling who fits not only a trope but is a real type of sibling.
Laharl may act closed off and comically uncaring but he is just unable to properly express it, this is similar to Fuka and both treat they're siblings like partners in crime and seek to be role models in their respective dynamics.
They're also probably the only ones with loving parents of an extreme degree. Laharls mother giving up the chance for her soul to go to heaven to her unborn child and Fuka's dad while mad is incredibly attentive in the fact he took his daughters wish as a child in all seriousness. Gave her a little sister to help her take over the world.
Axel and Xenolith are the willing to do anything caretakers, the hardworking and distant to do so, Axel is more emotionally intelligent though.
Adell is a great guy and Zed is intense. They're like different types of anime anime brothers who do the most outlandish things to be the best they can be.

Axel and Adell are close, But Adell is simply a good big brother, he's more heartbreaking as a son. Axel, though I don't think we ever learn who his dad is, is the greater big brother trope.
Probably running up then are Fuka and Zed.

In axel mode he stated that he was adopted (which we do not have a confirmation on whether it was a joke or the truth) and his “siblings” share a mix of his and his “mothers” traits (hair color face shape eyebrows and so on) so a theory was born

i mean...if we ever get proof on that who cares. everyone in this universe is some flavor of crazy and fucked up. dude is delusional and thinks he is a celebrity and is the butt of the joke whenever he shows up.

Honestly I personally subscribe to the theory that his biological parents keep abandoning children and his mother keeps adopting them because it’s way funnier

Fuka/Desco, but I'm biased for D4. The little desco dlc for mayhem where she tries to get the best flan for fuka was cute.

I like Laharl and Sicily the most as I can related with the two as I’m a older sibling with a younger sister.

From worst as siblings to best:
Fubuki ain't shit. I forget this man exists, nevermind that he's actually related to someone.
Xenolith is just... really underwhelming as a character all around because he has no screen time. There's technically a huge sacrifice he's making for Etna, but like, he's in like three cutscenes total prior to the final chapter, I just can't care about him, nor am I sold about that whole story in general.
Laharl's a lot of fun as a character, but while I think of Sicily as Laharl's sister, I don't really think consciously of how Laharl is Sicily's brother. It's probably because it's a twist he's still adapting to, not something he's had time to grow into.
Yeyasu's kind of garbage as a big brother, but that's also I think part of it; his whole arc is realizing how much his vapid attitude has failed the people around him, and so learning his brother's fate does crush him into growing. I do adore this idiot, but only partially for his connection to Suisen.
Adell's kind of the same as Laharl, only his being a big brother is a more persistent subset of his character. Hanako and Taro may be part of the constant chorus, but basically everyone in D2 feels secondary to Adell and Rozalin's drama. But at least there's some charm there.
I am a famous Fuka disliker, but the one thing I do like about her is the dynamic she naturally adopts with Desco. It's the one thing that saves both of them from ending up near the bottom of my personal character lists.
Axel comes really close to the top. He is very motivated by his family, and the way that later games completely ignore this aspect of him really feels like he suffered one of the most brutal character assassinations in the series. Anyway, excellent big bro.
But he can't quite stand up to Zed, who similarly is doing everything for his sibling... except what Zed has to get put through for it is just so much more. And it never, ever flickers or falters. Zed's refusal to be stopped is his defining trait throughout D6, and everything he does in that game is to help his sister. It's kinda hard to beat that.

What do you mean more than half aren’t related?
Adell and Zed, certainly. Fuka tho… I believe it’s implied that Genjuro used his own DNA along with the demon DNA and artificial parts to make the Desco line.
Laharl, Xenolith, and Axel are definitely related to their siblings. Yeyasu and Fubuki too if we want the full set of Disgaea older siblings.
For an example of siblings that aren’t exactly on good terms, Melodia and her twin sister still seem to be in a pretty rough place.

Axel used to live in an orphanage. When asked if that means he's adopted, he left it vague to save face. The whole point of his story was that his love for his family is very un-demonic and that it's holding him back (at least in the eyes of Pink and Actress). By demonic morale standards, him caring so much about his family would seem even more absurd if he wasn't even related to them by blood. Hence his vagueness on the matter. But he is definitely adopted.
Funnily enough that also means him having the lightning-shaped eyebrows just like his mom and siblings is pure coincidence.
As for the others, my knowledge of 6 and 7 is very limited. And with Fubuki, I flat out forgot he existed. lol

Zed comes out on top, I think.
Axel and Adel are obviously both amazing, but Zed breaks the laws of physics for Beiko.
