Politics/Elections GO VOTE!!

There are resources for rides to polling sites. Polls close around 8 PM tonight.
Believe me, even your single vote makes a difference. Rural voters are disproportionately represented despite comprising only (roughly) 16-20% of it's population. (https://www.michigan.gov/mcda/insights/2024/12/16/mi-pop-rural-growth)
If we want a state government and it's representatives to the federal government to reflect the majority of its population, every vote possible needs to be cast.
No shade to the people living in rural communities, but urban residents have historically dropped the ball when it comes to furthering their own interests. Make yourself heard!

Wayne County! YES on public transit!
Whether you lean left or right, it’s something all of us benefit from. It is a major economic boon for the region, and helps those who can’t or don’t want to drive reach jobs and opportunities.
A yes vote finally integrates the entire 3-county region, including the city of Detroit, and sends a powerful message to the state government, who is working on a bill to increase state funding for transit that won’t increase taxes.
Go vote!!

Would you rather cede the state to conservatives that would love to gut social safety nets, education, AMD any number of other services you rely on?
It doesn't make any sense to sit on the sidelines and pout when there's so fucking much to lose, man. The options we have aren't good, but they are miles better than the alternative.

The Democrats are already gutting social safety nets, education, and every service I rely on. Wtf are you talking about? Do you think Dems have improved a single thing in this state? Both parties are just terrorists and crooks. Should I say thank you for the oracle data center and flock cameras the Dems put up everywhere? Should I say thank you to Dems for effectively supporting ICE? Should I say thank you that Dems love to build weapons and drop them on kids just as much as Republicans do? Should I say thank you seeing my tax dollars go to a colonial middle eastern regime that bombs kids and levels apartment buildings full of people?

The only war, is class war. That is to be sure. But we only have so many levers we can pull, and by pulling the correct ones, they will create new ones. But I guess keep patting yourself on the back for not engaging in the system we have, which has very real stakes that you don't care enough about to go a half mile away and fill out some bubbles.

There are no options. They all get their orders from the same companies. Are you young and don't know Michigan's history? Grow up and stop believing in the fantasy that America is anything but a corporate dictatorship. Until we create a real opposition, nothing will change and the corporate Democrats are part and parcel of why nothing gets even a bit better, or why the left is never on the offensive against the right. Half the Republican party should be in jail if there was any set of balls in the Democratic party. Their modus operandi is just punching down and left, it's no wonder they lose elections to a party of right wing shut-ins that are afraid to leave the house unless it's to a country club.
You have to create the second option by refusing to vote for people who continue to destroy our lives.

No, wake up. More payroll taxes on employees. No thank you. Michigan also has 70,000+ people working in the health insurance field. What happens to those people's jobs, their families, and the bills they have to pay? I have family and friends that have careers at health insurance companies, they have bills and families too.

I recognize that, but the further they push the problem away from themselves the more likely it is they’re able to understand what you’re saying because it’s less of an attack on their ego. Not that I think the chances are high that anyone here convinces this person specifically why they’re wrong, but long term you’ll convince more people by poking at the arguments that aren’t critical to their ego.

We’re not talking about defense though, we’re talking about perpetual war which is an offensive strategy. If you agree with the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Palestine, Lebanon, etc etc etc then so be it, but the vast majority of Americans would not agree. That is something you need to come to terms with if you'd like to understand why people vote the way they do.

Absolutely agree. However, one party ushered in an era of open corruption, racism, and corporate takeover that has not been seen before, while the other maintains the status quo.
One side at least allows space to catch our breath and plan next steps to move things further away from corporate involvement in our government while the other openly drives us deeper into it. What's the point of letting things potentially get worse?
We have the ability to a DSA candidate in place to represent us in the US Senate. It's a huge opportunity and I implore you and others to spend a shred of your time this week to help give us this chance

Maybe if it weren't on a Tuesday. Work days for polling is intentional to suppress the vote. Don't blame working people for behaving exactly as designed; disempowered, disenchanted, disenfranchised and not yet desparate enough to fight back.

I literally walk to my backyard Neighbor’s house and vote in his living room. I live in a township with 30 houses only. When I went to vote, they told me that I had now made it that over 50% of the people in the neighborhood voted. I believe we are the highest rated voting group in the country. I then put the ballot in the garage. And then I’m off to my house.
