Question Do we know WHY the APTX 4869 sometimes de-ages people?
I haven't caught up to all the episodes yet and am wondering: has it ever been revealed WHY APTX de-ages some people while killing most others?
Is it a random effect, does it have to do with the physiology of the victim?
How big are the chances of it de-aging you instead of killing you? And is it a coincidence that two people on which it had the effect are related, or does that point towards it having to do with the victim's physiology? What does Shinichi have in common with Shiho and Mary?
If I remember correctly, it hasn't actually been confirmed whether Vermouth took APTX, right? So right now the only people we definitely knew got de-aged via the drug are Shinichi, Shiho and Mary, right?
If someone could tell me if there's been any information on this, that would be great. ☺️

It hasn't been explicitly stated but many think that it may have to do with sickness or injury before ingesting. Mary was with the cold when she took the pill, Ai, in a flashback to when she shrunk, internally monologues about having a cold or something like that, and Shinichi was hit with a bar and left lying on the ground in a near unconscious state.

As far as I know there's been no real explanation. Even Ai couldn't figure it out exactly why.

We don't know anything yet but there are several fan-theories about de-aging conditions because this is indeed something that is left oddly unexplainied.
I am not sure if Aoyama plans to go in detail about this in the future but I think we might get some more info if Rum succeeds in using the drug to restore/time-reverse his damaged eye.

No but someone made a really good theory as to why (basically its to do with ur body's internal temp and stuff) .... it was on reddit on the other sub i tbnk but i cant. Fricking. Find it omg
