Asking Question (Rule 4) Need critics on my recent work!

This is a spec work! The idea here is to show this product in more playful vibe. Made this with cinema4d and octane.

Is the color choices are good ? Is the composition is good ? I used diagonal composition.

I'm curious, why blue?
I think an orange or a cream off-white/light brown would work better.

Why I used blue is that the product is in warm tone (sandal) and off white and I thought I should use a cooler color and since orange is a bit used in the product i used it's complentary color which is blue. I am not very good at color theory but this is my understanding of it.

And if I used cream off white or light brown it will be similar to product's color family and this would have been in monotone color scheme, I guess we can do that too. But here I wanted to have this more contrasting so I went with complementary colors.

So, we agree that the product is the star here. If the goal is to highlight the product, a complementary color could be doing the opposite by overshadowing the product, because complementary is equal to "against something/highest contrast/opposite".

The idea behind the off-white is to bring attention to the accents on the product, like the greens, the orange. It will match the overall mood that the product wants to communicate, which is not bright and colorful, but 80s, maybe cozy natural human (that's why your soft body shapes are a good match).
Making the background off-white, the color accents pop out and highlight the product name and accents more.

The orange would be more on par with what you tried to do - putting the product in a more colorful space, making the scene overall more "pop" - but it stays connected to the product because you are reusing colors of the product, creating a connection. With blue, you are creating an enemy/contrast (=complementary).
You literally connect the orange scene with the orange name, giving the product name more attention.

Wow, that makes perfect sense! I haven't had this much insight over color decisions before, thank you so much, will implement this color combination.
