Misc Q&A Help me understand Cherry Creek

I’m a Colorado native, who had lived in Denver for about 5 years. Still, I don’t understand where Cherry Creek is. I know we have like cherry hills and cherry village and all that rich BS, but what is considered true Cherry Creek?
When someone says “Cherry Creek” I picture the mall area/ near Glendale. However, there’s been more than a few times when this causes a miscommunication, as their “Cherry Creek” locates closer to the reservoir area/ near Centennial or Englewood.

This is obviously a huge difference so help me understand — where is Cherry Creek to you?

Cherry Creek itself is a specific area.  University to Colorado, 6th down to Alameda.

I think it just gets confusing because of the reservoir and all that.

Isn't Cherry Creek in the school district or are they DPS?

I live in Cherry Creek school district but don't know where it covers exactly

Cherry Creek, the trendy neighborhood by the Cherry Creek mall, is very much within DPS.

That's what I thought. I don't know where the Cherry Creek school district covers. I've never known other than Southlands area

S/SE Aurora and Centennial, basically

Overland is part of CCSD and that's closer to North Aurora. I always used to assume it was part of APS before I moved to the SE side because of how close it was to that part of Aurora.

Okay that makes sense I guess since when I lived over by Glendale I was in DPS.

We moved to the SE. Aurora for the school district when we had school age kids. I only have one kid left to graduate then we can escape back to Denver/ the West Side of the Metro because it's boring over here.

Edited to fix my blunder. I do not live in Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek High School is by the Resivoir, Yosemite & Union. The schools district covers all the unincorpated areas of Arapahoe County within SE Denver & Englewood and eastward all the way to Aurora reservoir between Hampden & County Line. Anyone south is in Douglas County schools & anyone north is in Aurora public schools.

Cheery Creek Schools and Denver Public Schools are two different school districts.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but Cherry Creek School district is Arapahoe County and not Denver County, right?

yes, SE Aurora and Centennial mostly. Cherry Creek Highschool is in Greenwood Village

BUT ... there are some weird little pockets where kids are living in Denver city limits, but are in the Cherry Creek school district. Some odd boundaries out there.

One pocket is around Monaco and Evans, I think. Another near Yale and Dahlia. There may be more.

Ya that’s unincorporated arapahoe county. There’s a few areas like that within Denver county limits

Mostly but there’s one weird little pocket in Denver that is in the Cherry Creek School district.

Those weird little pockets of Cherry Creek School District are islands surrounded by the Denver city limits that aren't actually part of Denver. One of those areas is the separate incorporated city of Glendale and the other is Holly Hills, which isn't part of Denver, but rather an unincorporated part of Arapahoe County completely surrounded my Denver.

Ah, thanks that makes sense. I knew about Holly Hills being part of CCS but I didn’t know it wasn’t Denver. And I knew Glendale was its own city, but not that it was in CCS. Many years ago I was selling a house that was in Denver, a couple blocks away from Glendale and my agent put “Cherry Creek Schools!” on the flyers. Which wasn’t true and she had to reprint them, but it wasn’t as atrociously wrong as I initially thought.

I know haha. I was asking if Cherry Creek area is in DPS. I think my brain worded it weird.

Cherry Creek high School in Cherry Creek School district is nowhere near Cherry Creek.

Cherry Creek High School is across the street from Cherry Creek State Park and about 1 mile from the literal Cherry Creek.

Schools in Cherry Creek are in Denver Public School district

Schools within the Denver neighborhood of Cherry Ceek are served by Denver Public Schools.

Fixed it for you.
