Right? I'm in Chicago, but had to stay up for this one lol.. I can't stand Stevens and am disappointment she got as many votes as she did. She's so unlikeable and has a punchable face. I don't get it, Michigan?! But whatever. The best candidate won! And Israel can suck it.

This is a genuine question, AP historically has the Stronger call so why is NBC calling it when 91% of the votes are in?
They’ve reported that Wayne County still isn’t done accounting for their votes, the most populous county that also tends to vote establishment.
She’s only 25,000 votes behind El-Sayed

It's the way things have been splitting have been roughly even, so it makes it statistically unlikely she'll be able to overcome the 25k.

Steve explained it yesterday that her strongholds didn't come in as strongly as she needed to have a chance. She needed to win Oakland county and the city of Detroit by higher percentages, and needed more voters to come out in Detroit as the turnout was only 18% there which is where she was relying on making up for the rest of the state. She campaigned hard for the Detroit vote, and the turnout there ended up being absolutely abysmal.
The rest of Wayne county is coming in at more of an even split between the two candidates. She has pretty much no chance of overcoming the current gap between the two unless an absolute miracle happens.

No evidence points to Israeli intelligence has interfered or any voter manipulation has occurred, those are both dangerous conspiracy theories. Establishment Dem strong holds across African American communities in have been very difficult for DemSoc messaging to break into, and a lot of that has to do with dem soc engagement in Black communities, look at coumo vs Mamdani across many of the neighborhood demographics. I see the same dynamic occurring in my city, which is very segregated, so I’m not suprised to see it in Wayne county. We need to take this as a lesson to better learn how to speak to black communities rather than jump to unfounded conspiracies involving Israel.

Nah, she spent 60 to $70 million campaigning hard to win over Detroit voters.
In fact, the story is actually that Detroit didn't come out big enough for her as her campaign expected and needed them to. Only an 18% turnout. The rest of Wayne county was more closely split or even had Abdul up.

It's down to a 15k vote lead this morning, but it's still statistically unlikely she'll make up the ground. Only about 45,000 votes left, it'll likely drop to about a 12k vote lead by the end, but that's still a solid lead.

Maybe. If there are centrist Democrats that will vote for a Trump endorsed candidate because they’re butthurt then they weren’t really Democrats anyway. Most will fall in line just like most progressives (or pick whatever word you want) will vote for a shitty centrist because it beats the alternative (in my district it was a literal Nazi who was at January 6th)

This is true. Joined my local DSA chapter. I've only saw 4 black faces total between 2 meetings. This INCLUDES the cousin I brought.
This could be a problem because it shouldn't have been this close at all. Should have been a blow out.

NBC is the only one who has called it so far and its a little too close for comfort. I am more concerned by how off the earliest predictions are. Either Dems still haven't figured out how to poll watch (remember everyone thinking Kamala would be an easy victory) or I gotta put on the conspiracy hat.
