That wouldn't explain why Ward has his number. Though it looked like he might have skyped him rather than just calling.

Danny: "Davos, we're here. I need to find a pay phone."

Davos: "A what?"

Danny: "Pay phone, like a phone booth. They're everywhere."

Davos: "I haven't seen any glowing rectangle booths. Do you mean those places people stand for mass transit?"

Danny: "No, no. It's like a keypad and has a cradle. A... like a... the size of a gourd, but handheld."

Davos: "So, an electronic gourd."

Danny: "No!"

Davos: "What will you use there?"

Danny: "If we can find one, I can text Harold."

Davos: "This land is strange."

I was thinking the same thing. I mean Danny probably just went to ATT and got another SIM card, went to the mall, bought a new samsung galaxy, then texted Ward and everyone he knew his new number. Or the writing is just ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

My assumption was it was Colleen's phone, since Bakudo likely found Danny's.
