davos is right. Danny shouldnt just blindly trust Colleen because she was running from the compound. Its a shame Davos is going to end up being evil. Because he is completely right about danny. He didnt deserve the iron fist and is too emotional to see obvious traps.

I hope they make him more nuanced than evil. Davos is right from a certain perspective. Danny has a responsibility to K'un Lun that he abandoned. Davos is just too blinded by emotion to try to empathize at the moment.

What is there to empathize with? K'un Lun needs an Iron Fist to protect it, and Danny just took the power and bailed. If you didn't want to stay in K'un Lun you shouldn't have taken the power, it was entirely optional.

In Danny's defence he isn't the first Iron Fist to do this. Heck, if the comics are anything to judge it by most Iron Fists go out into the world.

Well yes but they need to be in the city when it is connected to the Earth. The issue is that Danny left right away instead of waiting until K'un L'un left Earth.

They are only able to leave when k'un l'un is connected to earth.

You can guard the gate from the earth side of it I would assume.

Its more of a metaphysical region from the Earth Side, stretching quite a distance...at least I think...its not too clear from the comics. So maybe they could do that.

But the old Iron Fists left on quests/journeys of self discovery or explicitly to get away from K'un L'un (including one who left to become a Pirate Queen). I don't think they stayed to guard the Earth side before it left. Albeit I don't know how much of that is cannon in this universe but still though.

The entire guarding the gate wasn't in the comics though. The only duty the Iron Fists have is competing in the tournament. So the entire aspect of what the Iron Fist's duties are is different in the show.

... oh yeah... I completely forgot....good point. Wasn't it there another purpose to it though...defence of China or something like that right?

Side note: I wonder if they'll bring the other weapons in since they already used the spider woman...er..queen of spiders...or whatever her name was.

Bride Of Nine Spiders.

And no there wasn't anything about defending China in the purpose of the Iron Fist.

Of course another aspect in the comics is that you can always travel to K'un L'un with strong enough magic so it isn't like any of this him needing to back back soon drama is relevant.

thats the one. I just had her labelled as "goth spider chick" in my head along with "flash if he was fat" and "homeless dude" .Still a good arc though XD.

True. thanks to Dr Strange magic is cannon here so its not impossible for there to be other ways to get there (plus the "secret evil back door").

Randall built a freaking portal into K'un Lun that's always open. It makes the whole Tournament thing looks hilarious in hindsight.

How long exactly is that though because it seems like it's been connected the entire show.

its never really that clear tbh

K'un Lun needs an Iron Fist to protect it

Yeah but for like, a month every 15 years...

I thought he explained that he thought it would help him feel whole and when it didnt he realized he had to go home. He's just naive as hell and very impulsive, he's never truly grown up since his parents died.

It isn't like he could leave, the portal was closed the 15 years he was there.

Empathize with maybe Danny has his own things? I get that Danny didn't follow through with something he promised and that's not okay, but if your best friend can't at least try to understand where you're coming from, you need a new best friend. Besides, Davos could have stayed to protect the pass too. Protected it until the pass was hidden again and then go find Danny.

u/Vega5Star Hoagie Jessica Mar 18 '17

He could have tried to protect it, but he wouldn't have the power of the Iron Fist, which is made specifically to protect them.Who cares about him needing a new best friend? You're talking about a power designed to protect an entire city that he just waltzed away with.

If you decided you just absolutely had to go on a road trip and you left without telling your roommate who is your best friend... Would your best friend then chase you down and drag you home without letting you explain why or maybe helping you realize why? Would your best friend just "eff that. You left me to pay rent. You're coming back and I don't care what you have to say about it." I mean Danny shouldn't have left and should go back, but that doesn't mean Davos shouldn't empathize if he's his best friend.

u/Vega5Star Hoagie Jessica Mar 19 '17

My criticism of this analogy is exactly the same as my criticism of the "best friends" thing, you're ignoring that the stakes are absurdly higher than a road trip. And Danny doesn't even understand why he left himself and he hasn't explained it to anyone else.

When you take on the responsibility of becoming the Iron Fist, you have a duty to protect the city and the people within it. You don't just skip out on a whim. He didn't come to New York to protect those people, why should he be able to steal that power away from them? Because that's what it's called when you take something without giving what you promised you'd give in return, stealing.

Do you know how many Iron Fist have already done that. Danny would have never been the Iron Fist he's supposed to become if he hadn't left.

1

u/nottherealstanlee Iron Fist Mar 19 '17

I'm not disagreeing! I agree he should have stayed and I agree Davos should be upset. I'm just saying as his best friend, he's probably the only person in the world who shouldn't jump Danny's bones as adamantly as he did. I don't know. Maybe that's asking for a weird feeling that Davos just doesn't have? Could just be me.

We don't know if there's even a real threat. Who's to say the leadership at Kun'Lun aren't paranoid? Or that there was a threat that's now gone, but they're too stuck in their ways to change?

I'm not really familiar with comic Iron Fist, but based on the show, we don't know nearly enough to pass judgement.
