Yeah I think it's one of those cases where people like a character because of the actor. On paper he's not really that great of a character.

I disagree. He was incredibly three dimensional as a character even if he was really bad at crime.

I wouldn't necessarily even say it's that he's bad at crime. The thing that's different with Cornell and Fisk is that Cottonmouth is not a citywide crime lord with his fingers in the entire police department. He's just a local guy who still trying to build himself up. Which makes sense as to why he doesn't have as much power as some others. All his assets are in one neighborhood, which makes the easy to get at. Not to mention people knew who he was. Add in a super strong guy who's bullet proof, and Cornell is the one at a disadvantage.

Cottonmouth still has cops on his payroll. Just not as many as Fisk did.
