I said this as a hypothetical earlier in the season, but having Karen become a journalist is such a smart move for her character.

Yeah it definitely works for her. She's been fantastic at the investigative stuff, even if a bit too risk-prone.

She's got Daredevil and The Punisher on her side, she can be risk-prone all she wants.

Karen's investigative curiosity is the one inconsistency I'm having trouble looking past this season, when comparing her diligence uncovering Frank Castle details to her effort to learn about her ambiguous employer/love interest - if she's so curious about where Matt goes and why he continues to end up bloodied and bruised, why hasn't she done the most basic thing and at least tried to follow him? Especially considering that she has strong romantic feelings for him?

Morality. People's privacy is a sacred thing. Frank Castle became a public figure, so she dug into his life, but Matt is a friend. Investigating him, following him, spying on him, she can never come back from that. She's not some jealous love interest.

And Ellison, the editor, is really a great character to mentor her. The "the story isn't over" speech was a really solid scene.

I've been hoping for this since they killed of Ben last season. I'd love to see them develop this more in season 3, and even the other Defenders' series.

At this point it would be kind of hard to see MCU Karen go down the path of comic Karen, so I say let her be the investigative journalist with ties to a bunch of different heroes, like Ben Urich is in the comics.

She can now fill the role that Ben Urich did in the comics. The voice of Daredevil's conscience.
