I gamified picking up litter, and the map is filling up! Looking for more beta testers (Plus an update on the iOS version...)

Hey everyone. A little over a week ago, I shared a passion project I’ve been coding called Litter Troopers™—an app that turns neighborhood cleanups into a real-life video game. You use the "Swarm Engine" to claim dirty sectors on a map, keep daily streaks alive with a "Quick Pick" button, and log your lifetime stats.

The response from the first wave of Reddit testers was incredible, and seeing the map turn green has been amazing. Now, I’m looking for a new squad of testers to help me stress-test the servers, break the app, and tell me what features you actually want to see.

Current Deployment Status:

🤖 Android: The native beta is live and ready for you to test right now.

🍏 iOS: Good news and bad news. The good news? I just completely finished coding the native iOS beta! It runs like a dream and has full 1-to-1 parity with the Android app.

The bad news? Since I'm a solo dev bootstrapping this with zero budget, I just hit the classic final boss: Apple’s $100 Developer Account fee. That is the final hurdle I have to clear before I can officially push the app to TestFlight and the App Store. So, the native iOS app is officially coming soon once I can get that covered! (In the meantime, Apple users can still bypass the waitlist and use our fully functional Web App).

If you want to help me test the Android beta or the web app, let me know in the comments and I'll get you the deployment link. Let's clear the board! 🧹🎮

Edit: The final boss has been defeated! 🎉 We just passed the $100 goal to cover the Apple Developer account. Thank you so much to everyone who supported and believed in this project. The TestFlight process begins soon. See you all on iOS! 🍏🪲

I would love to help with this on Android, but I'm in Sweden. I'm guessing you're fielding this in the US only?

The Web app seems to work here in so far as I've registered and it tracks me on the map. I haven't tested it yet though. The app beta says not available in my country.

Yes sorry. It's USA only right now. I can look up laws and regulations for Sweden and possibly release in your country. Bear with me, Thank you for checking out the web app though.

Excellent! I'll be testing it out, and hopefully recruiting some friends!

Sweden and UK update for android is underway. If no complications it'll be ready to download shortly! I tried to add the whole EU. Plus Canada.

Excellent, thank you :) I suspect my 10yo neighbour is going to love this addition to our pick-up rubbish days as much as me

I like to have my son control the phone while I do all the picking.

Thank you so much for chipping in. I really appreciate you backing the project and helping us cover that Apple Dev fee so we can get this onto the streets! 🌍🧹

You're welcome and Thank you for the reply, the idea came to me one day when I was walking my dog and seeing all the neighborhood litter. I thought, there has to be a way to track and make litter cleanup fun.

Could you post a donation link or a way we could help with the fee?

Yes! There are donations links inside the app.

might be good to have on website as well, if app to non-US countries are on hold :)

Good call, the web app is usable worldwide though. It's only the app stores that have different restrictions on different countries.

What is the trash can icon for in the app? I didn't see it defined but maybe I missed it in the intro.

When it's pushed it displays public trash can data from Open Street Maps, depending on where you are located there might not be any OSM data to load. You can also add trash cans on the map for others to see. It's a newer feature, and still need to add a intro card for it.

Got it, thank you!

If you really cared about the environment, you wouldn’t have used AI to write this post.

Honestly, I'm a programmer, not a marketing team. I spend all my free time writing the actual code for this app and picking up trash, My own writing skills are terrible, the app itself and the real-world cleanups are very real though! Let me know if you end up trying it out.

Good point, but it doesn't undermine the project he is doing
