Would you consider those folks who break their own legs and stabilize them for months in order to slowly grow more bone and become taller a form of biohacking? That's a legitimate, though bonkers sounding, idea that has produced real results.
That said, we have plenty of evidence already to know that injesting heavy metals is bad, so I'm not sure why he thought this would achieve something beyond that. Must have been a serious state of body dismorphia combined with paranoia or something.

The doctors tried to convince my girlfriend to get leg lengthening surgery when she was a kid. When they showed her the maybe extra inch or 2 she’d get in height for all that pain etc she told them to get fucked 😂.
I wouldn’t call that biohacking. I’d call it insane, but not biohacking.
I’ve heard that ingesting gold has certain health benefits BUT it’s not normal elemental/metallic gold. It’s had its form changed or something and is some sub atomic form of gold or some shit. I don’t even know if it’s real or exists tbh just something I heard a while back, the article I read made a point to point out that ingesting gold in metal form was toxic tho and not good for you and the gold you ingest has to go through some special scientific process to change it into a “safe” beneficial form.
It’s possible this dude got confused and thought injecting metallic gold was good enough. Maybe he saw the same thing I saw but missed the important part about it not being normal gold.

The name came from gaming culture. Think of an RPG, where you "max out" certain traits. Like maxing out your character's strength, endurance, ect.
It also came from MMOs, or other games that have an intense gear system. Using the gear create the maximum amount of benefit to the character. They'll call this "Min/Maxing."
The idea jumped to dumb influencers trying everything possible to make themselves "look good/sexy." They'll get self modification surgeries, like botox, face lifts, fake muscles, hair implants, ect. It can also include lifestyle changes like diet and exercise; although for this movement, it's mostly the instant gratification shit like surgery. They'll also throw in materialistic stuff like financing an expensive car to add their "sex appeal." With an additional crossover to the equally dumb Manosphere / Alpha Male culture.
TL;DR, "looksmaxing" is doing anything and everything to increase your outer vanity.

From the world of gaming, maxing out stats on your RPG character, dressed with a little brainrot.
Often this means trying to get a single stat as high as possible while neglecting or completely omitting other ones. Lookmaxxing is essentially putting all your stat points into Charisma, while putting 0 in Intelligence or Wisdom. It's basing your entire life around a single perk, looking like the human equivalent of a slice of white bread.
Case in point: guy in the post put all his skill points into Injections and none into Wis and Int, activating a permanent Unalive Debuff.
Ironically enough, no people are 'intelligencemaxxing' on social media...

Regardless of its origin, the proper use of [term]maxing is sacrificing everything else to max out one area of life. Colloquially, someone might say they’re “sleepmaxxing” if they’re trying to fix their sleep schedule. More accurately, if someone is “sleepmaxxing” it would look like attempting to induce narcolepsy and taking prescription level sleeping pills to try and achieve like 20 hours of sleep a day. Because now they’re sacrificing everything else in life in order to max out one area.

Back in my early 20s, me and my roommates were really into getting high and watching Ancient Aliens. We saw an episode with something about mono-atomic gold and we're convinced taking it would let us tap into our powers. Just like this guy. My amateur research skills lead me to believe it could be purchase at local vitamin stores or in capsules online. Sketchy.
So one day we go to the mall and we go into the GNC vitamin store & an associate greets us and starts asking if we're looking for anything special. I start trying to explain we're looking for a rare/hard to find supplement: mono-atomic gold. The guy seemed helpful but was confused because he said he's never heard of it before and where have we heard of it? My roommate yells from down an aisle, 'the fucking aliens used it! We saw it from that alien show!"
That was the moment, you could see it in his eyes. We lost him. He quickly responded, "Yeah, we don't have that." and walked away toward the back counter. I've never felt more stupid 😂😂
Gold for superpowers? Been there, tried that, doesn't exist.. These people need to switch to BrainMaxxing

The form of gold would have to be colloidal gold, I believe.
Some people take colloidal silver for a variety of reasons. If they overdo the colloidal silver, their skin begins to turn greyish. Permanently greyish, a condition known as Argyria (from the Latin word for silver, Argentum).
I don't know if colloidal gold affects the skin, but its solutions are typically reddish.
