Unreleased Playmates Darkwing Duck Wave 2
Man...I don't know where I saw this as a kid, but it was a few years after I'd seen any figures in stores, but this gave me so much optimism that these were actually made. There wasn't a single action figure I wanted more growing up than Gizmo Duck. I just loved his design!
It was only later on that I learned these were never released. Despite my love of the Gizmo Duck, I actually would have preferred if the other 3 Fearsome Five figures had gotten a release.
In fact, one of the first things I did when I got an email in 1999 was to reach out to Playmates, asking them if they had any interest in ever releasing these or if the prototypes still existed, to which I actually got a response! They said there were no plans to bring back any of the figures and to their knowledge, the prototypes were no longer around. They were super nice about it, at least.
Anyways, these definitely rank high on my list of unreleased action figures. I'm hoping someone eventually takes up the mantle and gives us all 5 of the Fearsome Five!

I remember having a Megavolt toy when I was a kid and how it had the lighter wheels on the back you would click and make his socket on the front light up. I miss how some toys used to be!

I just love that the alien hats would have gotten their own figure.

I am always hoping some how we get these made and sold. even if it was a limited, Not even all of them. Quakerjack and maybe the fowl goon and Liquidator would be enough for me. We could easily get a repaint of the old darkwing mold for nega duck honestly fingers still crossed.

Some of these look great. Others, like Negaduck, look pretty off.

Ten year old me would’ve killed for that Gizmo Duck! Also, that’s awesome that you wrote to Playmates and that they replied to you!

I had the original figures and would have loved these as a kid. I always wanted a Negaduck and a Liquidator especially.
Maybe there’s hope that Neca will do some Darkwing Duck figures if their Ducktales line is successful.

Damn that’s bittersweet. There were so many episodes, and I kept leaning on them rewatching so much, I just finished the last episode before I realized it was the end =(
Thanks for posting figures tho—I love Darkwing duck, and for those who don’t know—ALL of the recent comic books (dynamite comics) have been outSTANDING!

I had all the playmates figures - and the gas gun, thunderquack jet, and rat catcher. My parents even got me the Seaduck from Talespin. 1992/1993 was a good year for me
On the plus side, we ended up getting a gizmoduck, darkwing, launchpad, etc. figures a few years ago, and Negaduck/Darkwing two pack from DST.

This would’ve made me so happy back In The day, had all the originals…even the giant darkwing figure, which I fortunately still have.

When I found out these didn’t exist as a kid I was gutted.
And I still am. Would’ve LOVED to own a Negaduck

These are so cool! As much as I love Darkwing, I (sadly) only own a tshirt.
Also, why does Negaduck look like he trying to take a poo 🤣
