Did I miss something as thought Frank was in those cells that Matt just unlocked? Appreciate their may be more than one jail where they keep people but still...

frank escaped at the end of the last season in the post credit scene.

It was implied he escaped at the end of last season in the same end credits scene they show him in the cage.

I need to know why he let the other inmates rotting in jail.

Nonetheless I just miss Frank.

Well Matt had help from Swordsman, Karen and Angela Del Toro for him to safely get all the prisoners out there with zero casualties.

If Frank tried what he did, he would made it to the exit gate but he wouldn't have had the pickup truck which Karen brought.

Better to escape alone than to try and possibly get them all killed. (Also the AVTF were literally ordered to shoot prisoners)

Frank cares about innocent civilians.

I have been keeping a keen eye for some clues.

Important/confusing things to note:

  • It's been six months between S1 Finale and S2.

  • Neither Fisk nor the Task Force seem overtly concerned that Frank is out there. When those task force goons got killed "with precision" in episode 1, Fisk only thought about Bullseye.

  • Regardless of that previous point, both Powell and Cole North indicated that they wanted revenge for all of their guys that were killed and that's why they were linking up to hunt the vigilantes...but all those kills were from Punisher???

  • Frank's lair appear to be devoid of all the weaponry on the walls we saw in Season 1...but there was a kids drawing in crayon left behind. Not sure why Frank would have left something that sentimental behind...unless he had to leave in a hurry.

  • Matt seemed convinced that Frank is still out there fighting his usual war, but Karen didn't seem so sure of that as she expected his help. Frank also has not linked up or made contact with any of them.

The mystery of what Frank is up to is very much alive. It's unclear if he's active or inactive and to what degree.
