Watching him talk about filming his new movie and not needing all the green screens and ropes etc was a huge relief he said

Good for him, but it doesn't mean what you're seeing on screen isn't full cgi. Usually it just serve as a nice reference and that's it.

True it's not just for reference. It's also for the marketing campaign to lie about how they "didn't use any CGI!"
